Bluey to Return?

Tough one to call carneagles. I heard that Bluey announced this on MMM in Melbourne, so obviously in front of Eddie and Sam I assumed that it was a prank. On Perth radio today, various current and former team-mates of Bluey (Chris Lewis, Karl Langdon, Peter Wilson to name a few) believe he won't make a comeback at his age. It's a little early to tell, but I'd have to agree with them

Dodongo would like to see him return if his body is alright. Dodongo wouldnt' wanna see him damage himself for the rest of his life.

DODONGO HAS SPOKEN

I think the weird thing is if he does make a comeback than it isnt guaranteed we will get him as he would have to nominate for the draft. I as much as i love Bluey it wouldnt be good to give up some good youngsters at our club for maybe 1 or 2 more years of McKenna.

I don't want him coming back, the guy had the perfect retirement game(goal with his last kick) and coming back would spoil that.

If he came back he might only give himself a bad name, he is remembered as a great player and a legend of the AFL(not just WCE). If he came back and it didn't work out he would be remembered as that guy(excuse the punt

) who didn't quite make a successful comeback.

the main reason i think he shouldnt make a comeback is because of two other players who played that extra year, the guys im talking about are Dermott Brereton and Doug Hawkins.

Dermott played that extra time at Sydney which no one remembers cos he had no impact at all and Doug Hawkins played for Fitzroy and he did nothing for them

Id hate to see one of our best ever players playing that extra year with the Crows etc just for the sake of it

No way. He was a great player but all good things come to an end and his career ended last season. Hope he doesn't because we have a young side which we will be building and the best thing he can do is to help them from the coaching ranks!

I have always been a huge Guy McKenna fan, initially because he was from THE #1 WAFL club – Claremont

, but then as an Eagles star. But, I don’t want to see him try and make a comeback. I agree with Daddy-4-eyes – he had the perfect send off with his last game. It was the most emotional game I have ever been too, and it will be in my memory for many years to come. I would hate to see him try and possibly fail. I believe his skills and dedication to both the game and the Eagles, is now best suited to coaching our up and coming young Eagles.

I agree with Jod23 on this one. Why risk the development of our rookies in favour of Bluey returning for a couple of more years. Who knows he might not even make a return to the game yet. We will have to wait and see.

If Bluey was looking to play for another year or so, how about he goes back to the grassroots and play a season with Claremont, similar to Chris Lewis and Craig Turley. I'm sure they would really appreciate any tips or advice he could pass on.

As my name would imply, I am a massive Guy McKenna fan. But inasmuch as I would love to see his talent back in the team, I think that it would be unlikely for his presence to speed the growth and improvement of our new team.

But hey, it's not like I'd be complaining if he did.
