This race just highlights the dearth of quality in our current WFA staying ranks
IAS put up Desert War @$2.80 & just cant lay it,currently $4.
He is a genuine WFA star but at 2400,he's a massive query.

2nd fave is Railings, pfft. After a horror Spring he's at least showed a little more heart in his last couple but he's as much a WFA horse as I am.
I know he ran 2nd to Eremein in this race but that was a long time & plenty of poor runs ago.

Next is Safwa who cantered in last run & probably is one of the few on the up.Completely untested at WFA & that may be a good thing.

The old warrior Casual Pass would be a good result although 2400 isnt his best trip either.

Wait for it,next in the market are Gorky Park & Blutigeroo???
Genuine B grade 3yo & an honest Sat metro horse who ran out of his skin in the Aust Cup.

I just dont know what to do with this race but Ill be cheering for Desert War,Casual Pass or Safwa for the race's sake.

Yep, its very ordinary. Its a shame MI threw away his last start as it cost him a place in this race in which he would be a great chance to finish in the top 5 if not an outside winning hope. The prizemoney that some of these horses will earn for this race is amazing when you consider the actual depth of the race. $50k for 10th and it is likely to be filled by a horse that would struggle to earn that in its next 5 starts.

If 4 weeks ago, anyone had said "Blutigeroo will be $10 in the BMW",they would have been locked up.Good luck to his connections.

They are predicting a wet weekend in Sydney too, if it did get to heavy say he would be an each way special. He would never get the opportunity to win the prizemoney he would by running a place here as it would take him 4 career best wins to achieve it!

Hopefully with so many handicappers going around this week it will make the Chairmans the week after a bit weaker for MI and NKIT.

I'll be on Safwa.
Frustrating horse with a stack of ability, but hopefully last week was its turning point. If she can run the sectionals she ran last week she could really blow them away. Does need galloping room though, so as silly as it sound they may sit out 3 wide on her..... I normally hate that.

On the other hand, she could still prove to be the cat thats cost me a fortune for a couple of years now. D-DAY for Safwa.

Congrats as I said to his connections but I despair for our stayers.
Will Railings ever win again? Jogged up to them in the straight & outplugged by the Tiger on the fast lane,1.2 million jumps in.
Gee that Hobart Cup form looks strong...........

Further proof how our breeding industry is neglecting staying bloodlines in favour of the sprinter-milers. Disappointing.

But well done to Blutigeroo and his connections who showed that he might not be a handicapper with his Aus Cup run. Today he confirmed it.

As for Ollie, he's a superstar.

yes we are neglecting staying bloodlines but honestly, you cant compare that when we are talking about blutigeroo. his sire encounter has been a complete failure at stud and i think they shipped him over to asia!!!

the form has held from last years w'bool may carnival, he won a c4 over 1700m when he was odds on.

Bag the tiger all u want but i had it in a running double with miss finland.
U can sit there and say it was a fluke of a run in the Australian cup but from what i saw it was good enough for me to get on it.
Carried the same weight as our supposed best horses at weight for age and only finished 2 lengths or so off em. Desert War was always going to compound over the 2400 so what was next best to back form wise at weight for age but the tiger.
Just hope for its sake it comes out at its next start and stamps its approval as a genuine weight for age horse and silences u lot.
Col Little might have just got another star in his stable.

I hope it does too,we need all the help in the WFA ranks we can get.

Just wondering how a horse that was getting beaten in Sat races at MV is now winning GP 1's at the AJC carnival.

How they are group one races to start with is the bigger concern.
Group ones should have quality fields, today's races were rather average.
