Why is it whenever there's a negative rumour we're all so quick to dismiss it?

If he'd come out saying that Walker was about to put pen to paper, I'm sure nobody would be dismissing his opinion.

But he wouldnt come out and say that 1AW is about to put pen to paper for a new contract. He would try and make a rumour into truth and say that 1AW has spurned the Blues offer and is leaving at the end of the year to GWS.

Barret and Hutchy have both been very wrong on Carlton issues before, both said Gibbs and Murphy were going to GC and GWS....we know how they turned out.

At the end of the day the club is still in debt, there are board members with financial backgrounds and then you have sticks who knows what is needed to win a premiership (which will bring in the dollars).

What would you go for, saving money and just survive, or spend money win a premiership which will earn money.

But I doubt he would make up a story without any basis whatsoever from scratch.

My guess is that he spoke to perhaps one (or possibly two) board members who maybe expressed some 'concern' to which he tried to connect the dots and get a story of an "unhappy" or unstable board.

To simply say - he woke up one morning and plucked it from thin air is both ridiculous and unprofessional. Journalists may not always get the facts 100% (or on some occasions even 50% correct), however their sole focus is on breaking the story first, and they do that by any means necessary - even if that does entail assumptions and artistic license to exaggerate the circumstances.

Argy bargy will go on at every board. Its a tough one. Invest in footy department to win but how long do we live with 5 mill debt.
