Just had myself a slice thanks clubmed :thumbsu:

Good on him. I seriously thought Dougie should have played ahead of him and happy to admit I was wrong.

Looking forward to seeing the Aussies bat tomorrow so I can have a chance to have another slice of pie after slamming our middle order!

Epic spell from Siddle, loved watching it.

Confidence and in particular the pace he gains from it is obviously key to him as shown by his hat trick over where he got better and faster every ball. I still maintain he has the tendency to bowl some very average stuff when he's been a while without beating the bat and his pace drops off.

Still I will admit I was wrong and the selectors (finally) got it right, Siddle was the right choice for this test.

Happy siddle did well but bollinger says he's fit so he should be playing.

As i said last night based on the last year bollinger is the first picked if they want siddle for johnson i am all for that.

We are playing a SLA as a 4th bowler to keep the runs down when our first change quick can barely land the ball on the pitch, bollinger or siddle first change has to be better than what johnson is serving up?

Massive performance by Sids.... should have taken 7 but Iron Mitts Haddin dropped another catch... granted wasn't a soda..
Clearly he can't be dropped now, Mitch J will want to extract the finger in the 2nd innings, if dougy rips thru however NSW are playing in the shield the pressure will really be up on Johnson... Yes his good is VERY VERY good... but christ when he is bad he is ordinary

Personally liked what I saw with the X man as well... shows a lot more than Hauritz would I think...

What was that crap straight after tea Hilfy and Watson were bowling? wide of off stump garbage... then sids gets the bowl bowls on or around off stump and the wickets tumble...

Has ranged from 130km/h to 146km/h. Obviously the latter has come when he got his confidence up after a wicket. Pretty much bowling like he did against SA at the MCG and I'm guessing how he bowled in the Shield final against NSW.

I don't know if CricIndia's speeds were right but they looked to be well down on pace all of our seamers except Watto.

Siddle needs to improve on that area of his game, he rips it when he gets wickets and drops off when he doesn't. Reminds me of that West Indian guy (Darren Powell was it?) who would bowl 145kph for the first 2 overs and if he didn't get a wicket would sulk at 130kph for the rest of the spell....

It may have been a few km/h off as Siddle was usually around the 135km/h mark today but usually hes around 138km/h. But I agree, he needs to work on keeping his pace up especially when he is overseas where the crowd won't be behind him to spark up his momentum.

They all seemed a bit down on speed to me. Siddle is a guy whose pace varies more than most bowlers, might have something to do with roles in the bowling attack too. I would prefer him to bowl less overs at more pace than the reverse.

Harris is better than both

Must admit I have long thought Siddle as a "meh" bowler, never thought he was going to be anything much, but didn't agree with the idea he was a complete spud. Yesterday was just amazing though, just couldn't see it coming. He is a much better bowler than Bollinger and showed it yesterday, yet the circle jerk over Bollinger continues??

Would have been happy to see Harris come in instead of Siddle, don't be surprised to see him or Copeland (most in form bowler in Australia) come in for Johnson for Adelaide.

Bollinger is still a better bowler than Siddle and should have been selected for this test. Yes well done to Siddle for taking his chance but it is a complete contradiction to play Siddle over Bollinger due to being under done through injury and then leave Clarke in the side.

Yes but you seem to have a vendetta against Hilf despite his impressive record against the top order
I dont have a vendetta I just look at his average that is worse than the guy who was labelled Australias 15th best quick before this match and then I remember all his fantastic efforts whenever Tasmania visited Melbourne and made the mistake of having him in the team :)

Face it he is pretty rubbish, he would be a poorer version of Jimmy if he played for England but unfortunately playing for Australia the pitches dont suit him given they dont play tests in Tasmania and the GABBA his next favourite ground well he just bowled like shit yesterday

Very overrated bowler

Clarke shouldn't have played true but looking at the brittleness of our batting line up clarke was pretty much our second best bat...

watto, solid 40 average bat, katich moderate form but slowing down, punter, the best, hussey, this innings may have pulled him out, but has been in dog form recently, north, his last century probably saved him but has been average at best.

I don't think clarke should have played but from the selectors perspective punter would have been the only gun batsman in the side.

as it was watto and kattich set us up reasonably well, and haddin is hanging on by a thread while hussey scores.

How do you know that was the reason? I tend to think there might be a few in the high places that dont like Doug's laid back attitude. Purely speculative of course.
