I am too young to really remember but after Port Arthur John Howard showed leadership in taking on his own party to reform gun laws. Albanese has turned a blind eye to anti-Semitism and pander to Islamic extremists for votes in Western Sydney. Does he have the courage to stand up and do what is right regardless of politics and stamp out this extremism? I think not. But I hope I am wrong
Any examples. Preferably things that actually happened.

Yes.

Chants on the opera house steps "gas the jews" that were ignored and gaslighted us

In any case, Hanson and her supporters in the media using the murderous actions of a father and his son to rehash partisan claims that Albanese is turning a blind eye to antisemitism and that the blame somehow rests with 'obnoxious universities' is as predictable as it is idiotic.

1. Allowing people to chant "gas the jews" with no arrests
2. Allowing numerous marches with flags of a terrorist group and terrorist chants - no arrets
3. allowing radical preachers to spew hate - again no arrests
4. bringing back ISIS brides and people from a terrorist state into the country
5. appointing an anti-semitism head, getting an expert report and sitting on it for months not implementing ANY recommendations

Would you like me to go on?
You do realise Albo can't actually order Police to make arrests, right?
Unless you actually want a dictatorship.

Nice deflection. Albo can implement the recommendations of a report he ordered. Albo can change his migration policy to not import ISIS brides, people from terrorists states etc. Albo can give funding and direction to the AFP to enforce hate laws already in place. Albo can use immigration laws to deport clerics who preach hate that are not citizens. Albo can go to the Middle of Western Sydney and stand in the town square calling on extremism to end - instead he panders to it

They should when they are trained to do so. And when they also have a gun.

I'm not sure yet what happened with the cops, but IF they did stand by, they should be sacked. Period.
Whenever I see a statement on an Australian platform ending with the word 'period' I'm reminded of just how much of our education has been supplanted by imported American tabloid rhetoric.

Lol. Just lol.

Right wing extremist. That's a first for me, but I like it. I'll put the label in my profile.
The mask had already well and truly slipped mate. No one really believed the whole centrist/moderate thing you claim, but when you start doing a merry tap dance and a jig over using the occasion to sorely point fingers and bash one group of people and unironically use the word 'woke' and claim 'leftists' are the problem with the world, its never more apparent.

Genuinely, get help.

Albo: "we won't let them divide us"

He is trying to be Trump but without the charisma

sir you and your party has been dividing Australia for the last 15 years through identity politics and the amplification and cultivation of reckless rhetoric to further a delulu political movement

time to do better and watch the language that one puts out!

It's all too predictable that reactionary politicians are falling over themselves to blame the Australian Government for the terrorist actions of a father and son.

This tragedy is far greater than any other tragedy since Port Arthur to have occurred in Australia. There has never been a terrorist attack this bad in Australia. The only comparable ones involving Australians are Christchurch and the Bali Bombings.

I think it's the lack of comparability which sees things spiralling off in all directions at the moment.

They are human, with the same instincts of preservation that you have. Their pistols are highly inaccurate at anything further than very close range, and they are up against two gunmen with 4 x long arms capable of killing them at much greater distance.

Sure, they could have dumped their clips from 50+ meters away and then had no ammo to neutralize them when the opportunity came.
Had the police stormed the bridge with their pistols until within 10-15 meters, there would be police dead....not that i think that would bother the likes of you.

There’s a lot of carnage, confusion and people everywhere.
Saw that Video, police response was too slow as always. Baffling to me that our citizens are more courageous than our police.

For context

Gunman was shot. First person to approach the scene is a civilian. Confirm the shootee is injured. Takes his gun away from him. Puts his hands up to draw attention - gets shot at by police. Eventually police get there. Gets tackled to the ground and detained as if he is the shooter. Gets attacked by another civilian who assumes he is the shooter because police are trying to detain him.

Pretty piss poor response.
I guess that's a bit of a trade-off from living in Australia.

The benefit of living in Australia, is that we don't have this sort of mass shooting... and thus our police aren't on high alert for it, and probably aren't trained to the required level of response... they aren't trained, nor do they have experts with experience in the matter, to react in the way Police in say America are. Its almost muscle memory over there.
