no, partly because there was no real commonality among the victims beyond being tourists

While we all know why the Murdoch press are doing this, it's the fact that other media outlets including the ABC are engaging in the same platforming practices with this tragedy that is most shocking.

I’d also say that in the case of the ABC, they’ve been so traumatised by relentless News Corpse campaigns of supposed bias in the past that they pre-emptively give ground to the RWNJ viewpoint so as to appear “balanced”. It never works because the hard right will never be satisfied till the corpse of the ABC hangs rotting in the village square, but I can’t say I blame them for not having the stomach for starting yet another shitfight simply for reporting the truth.

I disagree.

The NSW Government called for a state based RC and Albanese said he'd give them whatever support they needed, which obviously includes access to federal agencies etc etc. If they fail to deliver a RC then he can step in with a federal one and say the situation demands it but so many of the details of this attack hinge on state power - gun laws, police response on the day, NSW police actions regarding extremism etc etc.

Also a RC takes ages, and if one's happening anyway an immediate inquiry into what went wrong with the executive arms that failed to protect people in Bondi will be more likely to get better repsonses and improvements faster than waiting for a RC to give recommendations.

It's just another avenue for the right wing politicians and shock jocks to attack. If he calls a RC they'll attack him for that because NSW already called one, waste of time and resources, will get in the way of NSW RC, action needs to be taken immediately etc etc. Its performative whinging playing to the lowest common denominator in the electorate.

I had the old prostatooni removed, so far so good with follow up PSA tests for return of the cancer. But said tests will be a feature of my life from now on..................not too bad until the lead in to each test, when the stress resurfaces.

And for all the males here (esp those 40+) - GET YOUR PSA LEVELS TESTED. That's the only way I found out and it has saved my life...........or at the very miniumum significantly prolonged it.

This is probably why they are cooked.

It worked from 2010-2013 cos "axe the tax" and "stop the boats" were simple, catchy and had saturation coverage in the media at the time. They effectively brainwashed people.

This won't work. Maybe something will happen that will give them the same simple catchphrase but even then the media landscape has changed so much that they will never get that sort of saturation coverage again.
