Spoofed. There's a term I need to start using again...

Each to their own.

I guess some of us prefer to challenge our ears to hear something a bit more interesting than 3 chord pop rubbish that sounds like a bad paradoy of music made 30 years before.

If i wanted to listen to something as insipid as By the Way, i'd put on a Beach Boys album and at least hear the authentic version what they are now trying to sound like.

It also helps to put it in context. When Mother's Milk was released, it was fresh, vibrant and sounded a hell of alot different to some of the stuff that was popular back then.

But of course, it wasn't chock full of "hits" that the kids can sing along to so it must be ordinary hey?

Its ordinary cos the songs aren't very good. Johnny Kick a Hole in the Sky isn't bad and they did alright with Higher Ground. The rest of it is mediocre.

Its ridiculous that half the people who like music thats not mainstream think they're some sort of higher being. People seem to think that when bands find success they're music is instantly worse

As Im writing this the Darkness are being played on MMM. Some people on here better remember too not like them now

My main dispute with Muse is not their sounding like Radiohead, but their sounding like Muse. I've got their first two albums and have heard a couple of tracks from Absolution - they've definitely got their own style, but it doesn't seem to change much at all.

Radiohead have a lot more diversity in style, and its still good stuff.

Buy Absolution then re -think what you just wrote.
They have progressed. I agree some of the album is similar to Origin of Symetry but many of the songs break new ground that no band has really delved into. Blackout, Apocalypse Please, Sing For Absolution, Falling Away With You, Ruled By Secracy are all a new direction for Muse which they have never been before.
