Bowden or Simmonds???

If they both end up in the PSD, who will we take and why?

My view is leaning towards Pat Bowden. He's only young and a very good talent, but if we lose Ottens were goign to obviously need a ruckman that knows how to get it done, and Simmo does know how to get it done.

Simmonds has alot more value than Bowden.

Lets just hope we can afford whoever pops up.I reckon there's a pretty good chance ,the way things are going ,that a Stevens scenario will arise again this season.It might not be of his quality,but there will be a couple.

With at least 4 clubs after Simmonds theres no way he'd make it to the PSD.

You havnt burst my bubble at all there mate.I didn't necessarily say it would be Simmonds.It could be anyone still out of contract.There's absolutely shyteloads of them.It may be someone good or it may be Ryce Shaw,who knows.

I hear a lot of people talking up Pat Bowden but the fact is that he isn`t even an established senior player yet , he got dropped 5-6 weeks before seasons end . Has he really shown anything yet ?

Simmonds certainly would be higher on the list for what our club needs but at 26-27? and demanding a 4 year contract could rebound on us if he turns out to be a dud

Bowden on the other hand is still pretty raw but young and shows glimpses of being okay and wouldn't be asking for a long contact unlike simmonds and could be a better longer term option. The major thing against him however is that he dosn't meet our pressing need for a ruckman so simmonds would be my choice given the gap ottens has left.

Maybe getting dropped was just what he needed.

I think that Richmond need simmonds more than bowdan but that could alter with who we get in the draft.

Pat Bowden has shown a bit for the Bulldogs, would do alright as a 3rd marking option in our forward 50 (lets just get past the fact that all deliveries into the forward 50 are to richo, leaving him double and triple teamed)

Simmons is a better player, but Bowden would fit in a bit more with the direction we "Should" be trying to take in my opinion.

Id be happy with either player - However, i would still be trying to trade for Bowden and not relying on getting him in the PSD
