On Saturday night I was at Fellini's and on a table directly across from us were some Port players and one ex player in Bowen Lockwood.

Does anyone know if Lockwood is making a come back or not?

Just thought it was strange to see him in Adelaide with Dean Brogan, Jared Poulton and Jarrad Schofield.

I wonder if Mark Williams would be tempted to draft Bowen after an injury free year at Centrals?

Im thinking he might.

We wish. It'd be great to see him make a comeback.

Did he look alright condition-wise?

He looked fine but its easy to look great in a restaurant, only thing going against him would be that he turns 27 in 2005 - how time passes by!

27! Time does fly when you're having fun I guess. It just makes me wonder though...seeing as he's been out for this long would it give him a few extra years? Or would I be way off the mark?

i kept telling my father it was Bowen!... just after 5pm leaving work in north adelaide, him and some mates were walking down Tynte St..... debating on if it was Morgs or Bowen!.. all the way home (30min drive)... Nah bowen...no morgs...no bowen no morgs no bowen...... now i can tell him i won and he owes me money!

:) :)

my day has be comebrighter knowing i'll get $10! haha.... no really!

bowen lockwood was a waste of space, even at central then port magpies!!! and since he retired at 25 or 26 from severe back pain/injury, i doubt he would be up to amateur standard let alone sanfl level injury wise as to the best of my knowledge his injury was just too much to handle!!!

A bit harsh that. I dont see how someone who was injured was a 'waste of space' per se, as he certainly didnt intend for it to happen just so he could spite the club(s) and ruin his career. Its not like he didnt have the talent, no one gets touted as being potentially better than Tredrea if they're a 'waste of space'. I agree with you over the queries on his abilities to come back although with that said, you never know until you try.

Damaged goods. Regardless of how much potential he had. Williams would be a fool to draft him.

well whenever i saw him play he wasnt much good and was even getting it from his own supporters, when he left centrals even they were gald he left.

We have as much chance as drafting him as drafting Buckley. I was always a Lockwood fan, but it reminds me of when we got Scotty from the cows, his body was not up to full time training of an AFL footballer ( at that stage of his career) but should do well at SANFL level.

I saw Bowser about 3 weeks ago wandering around Rundle Mall with a few port boys. I dont find it wierd really...did he even return to Victoria after he quit footy? I thought he stayed here anyway.

Was my favourite player when with us, cant see him making any sort of return at any level tho.

There is a lot of talk about how good Justin Koschitzke is at the moment.
Lockwood's first few uninjured games were as good or better than Kosi's.

We must really have a look at our long term injury management program. Too many reoccurrences for it to as good as it should be.

Damon White could be the final straw if he breaks down again.

Although Damon is yet to play a game and his injury is different to Bowser's there are similarities given the time each player has been on the list with a serious injury.

Whilst I am a little concerned with the re-occurance of injuries it is nothing unusual for people who have had a major knee op to suffer a re-ocurance. I've read somewhere recently that more than 25% of sports people who suffer a simliar injury have a re-occurance and the article below mentions
Statistics reveal once a player has had a knee reconstruction he has 12 times as much chance of injuring it again.

In the article in todays Advertiser -
Francou can still kick on career in AFL
By ANDREW CAPEL 30 January 2004

PORT Adelaide doctor Peter Barnes says there is no reason why star on-baller Josh Francou will not play AFL again.

He claims Francou, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his reconstructed left knee at training on Wednesday, ruling him out for the season, is the victim of bad luck.
And he said a second reconstruction would leave Francou's knee in no worse condition than his first.

"The fact with knee reconstructions is that most take but a percentage don't," Barnes, the Power's chief medical officer said.

"In Josh's case obviously his knee didn't take and get as strong, for whatever reason. There is nothing to suggest his next operation won't be successful."

Barnes said a recent arthroscopy on Francou's left knee, which he first had reconstructed in April, showed it to be healing well. "There was certainly no hint of any problems."

However, Barnes conceded once a player had had a knee reconstruction, his knee would never be as strong again.
