Was rapt with Pauly Bower's game after he was moved onto Burton. Thought he took the honours in the end. Had a couple of his trademark "startled emu" moments (love that phrase, well done whoever came up with it), but they were more a result of having no options once he got the ball due to our stagnant midfield. Provides a lot of run and his kicking has improved more than anyone else at the club this year.

And to the drongo who was sitting in front of me today and got stuck into Bower for not getting a hand on the ball when Burton snapped that lucky goal towards the end of the game, you are a moron.

I'm really loving Pauly Bower. I have the utmost confidence in him. His disposal is good, he is reading the play well, he can spoil, he can cut off leads, he is quicker than when he started and he is cool as a cucumber these days.

He is going great guns he put in 100% I love that.... I think we have to move Waite from the back line too many turnovers and for someone who has played for a long time now he does not seem to be improving with his disposals.

Must agree. Bower really is a shining light this year. Another impressive game from him today. Also felt Jamison kept his head up under extrme pressure.

I wrote in the first couple of weeks of the season that Bower could be one of the stories of the year coming out of our club, and to date, he has played very very well. When he goes on those Leo Barry esque runs, you never know how it's going to turn out. However, his disposal is pretty good.

he impesses me more each week, good run, occasional hiccup
but what a f@cken great spoiler rarely puts his hands in the back or makes bad defensive decisions
im lovin:pg him

yep agree with the above

We will waite go forward?
Dont think so after thorntons injury, although we're crying out for a target at CHF.

Real shame about harts going down thought he was playing ok....

Any suggestions who we can bring in?
Maybe a sentanta or hampson?

Love P.B gee he's fit and agile. He still thinks for too long when he has it but he's getting better and better at that.

He just reminded me so much of a group of emus I drove beside on the Nullarbor some time ago. Will be a player, can't recall such major development occurring so quickly. :thumbsu:

With him and Jamo continuing to improve, get more games, I thnk our backline for the future is slowly but surely starting to take shape.
I love the fact he's an 'attacking' CHB, not afraid to move futher up the ground and create oppotunties for the midfielders and flankers ...

He is really playing a lot more confident under Ratten then Deni$ Pagan ...
Has great height, and agility as well, he is a gem :D

Just wondering if anybody that now appreciates Bower has been overly critical and called him a dud in the past. Then I wonder if those same people are currently ripping it into Grigg or Russell.

Most improved at the club in season 2008 thus far.

He really has grown very well into the role of running defender. Very sound defensively (didn't think I'd be saying that after a few efforts last year) and knows how to run the ball forward.

Disposal and decision making has really improved a huge amount which was really important for his confidence in himself. Now that he's hitting targets and doing well it seems as though he's more inclined to take them on and go on a few runs out of the backline.

He's still prone to a few brain fades caused by running too far, resulting in him worrying a bit and ultimately occassionally turning the ball over, but those are becoming far less frequent by the week.

He has well and truly worked himself into our best 22 and is an extremely important component of our growing and developing backline.

Well done Paul, keep up the good efforts :thumbsu:

The Bower Bird has been fantastic. Now his decision-making has matured this, combined with his spoiling and rebound, make him a formidable footballer. Was always very ambivalent in respect to the Kennedy vs Bower (in lead-up to the Judd deal) debate last year and that's being fully aware of how much we were giving away in our young CHF.

I have always been a fan of Bowers.
In a lot of repsects he reminds me of a young Kouta. He looks as though he is learning a lot as he goes along rather than someone like a Murphy who even though he makes a lot of mistakes you can see that he has the essence of the game ingrained in him.
I think they should keep playing Bower out of the backline this season and maybe next year look to him as being a wingman.

i still think he is a dud he makes zac dawson look like silvagni pulled one out of his arse against the pies and done nothing since and yes i am currently ripping into limp lettuce grigg and captain clanger russell
