Is Channel 7 showing VFL again in 2016?
7 will be broadcasting the VFL again this year.

Exactly what the schedule will be, I haven't seen it out yet.

You can see which matches will be on channel 7 by looking at the PDF fixture at this link:

Our round two GF re-match against Williamstown on Sunday April 17 is our first TV match.

Other TV matches are :

Round 6 v Werribee on on Sunday May 15
Round 11 v Geelong on Sunday June 18

That is all so far but there are still some yet to be determined.

Thanks for that mate.

If I didn't know better when I compare the Hawthorn draw to Box Hills draw I'd start thinking they really worked it well together to absolutely screw us over with the draw in every single way possible, making sure Box Hill players could hardly ever be picked because of the break between senior and reserve games.

Effectively if we get an injury at Hawthorn, like Frawley, than we have to 'pull' a Box Hill player, meaning they basically get no game for two weeks before coming into the seniors, like Brand this weekend.

Very hard to pick players at Box Hill on form with that shit or cope with injuries that happen at training etc.

The consequence of this 'fixture' combined with Hawthorns 'fixture' cannot be understated in the effect this has on player availability in being able to always pick in form fit players for Hawthorn.

But of course it's just my imagination this being set up this way, like it was fixed.

The past few seasons we've had Hawthorn and Box Hill playing on the same day and we all hated that too. This year is a big improvement on that. However it may mean that Box Hill players have to be held back as emergencies for the Hawthorn Sunday games.

That is how it should be - this is about Hawthorn, not Box Hill.

We all pay lots of money to see Hawthorn each year, and that money gets feed to the vfl, we should always be able to see a Hawthorn side that is as close to full strength as pick-able, without the vfl fixture hurting Hawthorn's ability to do that.

Best way is for the vfl matches to be played as curtain raisers, but hell that'd mean more value for money, can't have that.

I'd love to see more VFL curtain raisers but the AFL want to protect their grounds, so unlikely to happen.

The fixture throws up too many conundrums to be fair on everyone.

Should VFL teams with AFL allegiances have fixturing priority over the stand alone clubs?

Not a heap has really changed. If Hawthorn play interstate we will still have first crack at Box Hill players on the Hawthorn list.

Likewise, Hawthorn will get first crack at the BH boys on Friday night and if BH didn't have a bye, those that didn't play for Hawthorn would be having a run. An untimely BH bye nonetheless so early in the season.

They always trot that out as a reason but I have my doubts. A recent discussion I heard regarding the women's league that they are setting up suggested that they would play as curtain raisers for the AFL games, I immediately wondered why we can't have VFL matches then! Just like banning the kick to kick was to protect the grounds, now when they see it as a positive, lo and behond, it's allowed again and to hell with the surface

They will probably be permitted a novelty one or two curtain raiser games in more of a political statement before playing the rest of the games at their home grounds.

Maybe start up a thread on the main board discussing AFL/VFL/WFL fixtures and curtain raisers?

No, the gist of what they were saying was that that would be when the bulk of the matches would be played.

Pass.
