Boycott time

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Truth is we have become very boring to watch.
I remember the days when watching a game I would get all excited, frustrated, scream at the telly, holler abuse and two minutes later scream admiration.
Now I just shake my head as the team chips it sideways and backwards, waiting for the inevitable turnover. Hang my head at lame arse attempts to tackle not to mention the expectation that we will miss easy shots on goals.
I don't think supporters need to boycott. I think many will just stop going because it is not so enjoyable anymore more so than for political reasons.

I have only Gone to 4 games this year.... use to go to every game but ever since bucks took over my passion for Collingwood and the game has wained. I have better things to do that watch a shit Collingwood play and lose week in week out. Will start going when we get a new coach. Will still buy my membership so I M supporting the club but not going to any more games. This is eddies last chance if the pies do not show any improvement in the next 3 years the Eddie can piss off too
I lived in Seddon for over a decade at the time when the AFL were doing their best to destroy Footscray, the poor Doggies were hanging on by a thread and playing some bloody ordinary football because the cupboard was bare to get players (before tanking got popular) but they had supporters who gave a sh1t about the club who refused to let it die. They rallied around and held every type of fund raising activity you could imagine - and some of them you couldn't.

And then I read some Collingwood . . . supporters?? . . . say they have better things to do because the side is playing shit . . .

Really it's just sickening.

We are so boring to watch.

Remember queens birthday when we were so boring?

What about when we lost to GWS. Such a boring game.

The Geelong game. Massive snore fest.

1 point win over Sydney. Fell asleep.

The comeback against Hawthorn. Yawn.

Now I just shake my head as the team chips it sideways and backwards, ...

Blame the telecasters for that one. You often don't see it when watching a stream, but at the game you can see the space opening up when teams do the kicking back/sideways thing. When it's done well it works well and looks great - it sure beats a rolling maul when there's 20 players around the ball and a stoppage every 10 seconds.

... waiting for the inevitable turnover.

Yeah, that bit is frustrating. Our skills need to get a lot better.

I remember threads on here back in 2011 when quite a few folks were saying that they were losing their passion for the game because Collingwood was so dominant that games had become so predictable and boring.

Hang my head at lame arse attempts to tackle not to mention the expectation that we will miss easy shots on goals.

C'mon, that was one game. Hawks have obviously been drilled about how to spin out of tackles and our players didn't know how to handle it. That'll get addressed at training this week.

Why 'supporters' only bother to go when we are winning always baffles me.

To me it's like that 'mate' who seems to pop up at most parties empty handed and will drink your beer, always up for a good time...but when times are tough or you need a hand they vanish.

Not 'supporting' the team just because they are not winning and battling is counter-intuitive to me, the club and players need more support when things aren't working and times are tough.

You can not agree with some decisions that administration make, but actively choosing to stop 'supporting' the guys trying to do their best for Collingwood...bit of a sh1t way to go about it.

Dopp it doesn't gel with the 'entitlement' generation lol.

Why doesn't the OP make a video of him burning his membership card in a microwave?

I dare you to do it and post it on here

If you want change you need to vote with your feet. No use getting 40-50,000 Collingwood fans turning up to every game at the mcg when your losing as the club will not make changes. When you start getting under 20,000 to your home games as the biggest club in Victoria then they will need to listen and start taking notice

There is a difference between not going because you are losing and not going because you don't support the administration. One is a bandwagoner and one is principled. Some people can't see the difference between support of the club and support for the administration.

Im only a new poster, so dont think I have a right to voice strong opinions.

So Ill, just suggest that if ya fair dinkum Pies supporter, the concept of boycotting just silly, Im frustrated where we at to. But boycotting concept... na

Maybe there are scenarios where its plausible, but we are not there, and hopefully never there.

Sorry, if Ive annoyed anyone

And some people get caught up in their own (perceived) self-importance

You should post more often

Not being disrespectful but if you are not happy with the club or the footy, just don't go. No need to make a point about it as the club will still be there playing and when we turn the corner playing good footy you can come back and watch again?

Way too sensible, how could we boycott not going to the footy then.

You mean like a Bandwagoner?
Someone who only supports their own version of Collingwood?

How will the administration know the difference?

All things being equal they won't. My post wasn't a "how to send a message" it was a comment on the criticisms of some people toward others. There is a difference between a bandwagon and action born of frustration.
