Can anyone tell me why Adelaide haven't enquired about Boyle from Hawthorn? Adelaide should be having a red hot crack at a quality fringe player from Hawthorns star studded forward line...

Surely it wouldn't be to do with coming to Adelaide? Playing a regular AFL game each week, surely would be better than playing in the Box Hill magoos?

How do you know they haven’t inquired about him and unequivocally been told by Hawthorn that his trading value is unrealistic. By all accounts Pick 10 and 26 are off the table and a 3rd round pick wouldn’t get the deal done.

Well I guess we will never really know who Adelaide have enquired about, but if they were serious about finding another potential forward im sure we would have heard something about him?

I'm all for keeping our draft picks, but what if we offered say pick 60 and a player?

In the advertiser 2 days ago, we asked about him, Hawthorn said both picks 10 and 28, we said 'lmao no'.

Hopefully we make contact with Hawthorn tomorrow afternoon and make some sort of counter offer. Ring them and offer a 4th round pick and they may accept it if they are looking for picks. If some teams are after draft picks tomorrow may end up being a fire sale and they take it. if they say no, we have only wasted a phone call.

I understand why Hawthorn would ask for pick 10 and 26 on Monday but that’s to be expected. Come Friday afternoon, things may have changed.

the laugh of the week, hawks want picks 10 and 26 for him.

great to hear that Adelaide asked about him, and yes pick 10 or 28 is unreasonable.

Good call, tomorrow will be interesting! Lets hope we throw a few last minute offers around and try and lure one for a lot less than expected.

i would expect the AFC to do the same thing if Jonathon Griffin was on the table. On the Monday when talks first started the asking price should be unrealistically high and then over the course of the week the real value will emerge.

He's no better than Gill.

Gill can play he just can't kick.

I am the biggest critic of our players and I will admit the boy has talent and could be one of the leading forwards in the comp, if he could kick.

There is a reason 2 clubs have tried but more than likely, 2 clubs will fail.

Our forward line looks solid next year anyway, not fantastic but solid.

I'm quite optimistic about our chances next year

I don't want another half assed forward in Adelaide. Stick with Gill, Hentschel and let the young blokes develop and see if we have a gun on our hands.

Boyle might be able to kick a little straighter than Gill, but Gill is easily better in other areas such as work rate, contested marking and playing as a lead up.

No room for both in the team in my mind. The few games I've seen of Boyle he has been very ordinary considering that he was probably the third or fourth best forward at the time...

Haven't heard any mention of 10 (or for that matter Adelaide) with regards to Boyle. Thought he was stitched up to Saints for their 2nd round, but rumoured to have failed a medical - not a bad effort when he is in Asia on holidays at the moment.

We turned down a middling 2nd round last year for him, would jump at #26 now I would think.

Before his broken leg, he was a high-leaping, endurance CHF (think Cloke/Riewoldt style, but lesser quality), but took YEARS to get over it. Plays quite smart, generally given decoy roles to free Franklin up, and on the few occassions he wasnt' respected kicked 3-4 goals.

He'd be a solid CHF/FF, but nothing more. 40-60 goals as a primary option - mainly through accuracy and positional play, rather than contested marking, fast leading etc.

AFL quality, but just too much talent at Hawthorn (and our gameplan isn't particularly suited to a traditional style CHF - his natural position).

Was reported in the Advo Hakws had offered Boyle for pick 10 and 28. Whether its true or not is another matter entirely.

I think Boyle can play and would think pick 28 would be around the mark. No doubt I will be shot down in here for saying that though.
