Brad Crouch

I was wondering where people think Crouch would have gone in the draft this year if he was available? He has played very high level football this year in the SANFL against grown men. He has IMO outplayed the high rated draft prospects who are also playing in the SANFL. Talk is he is a cross between Hodge and Selwood (The good one) but more toe.
I think he could be up in the top two if he were available on current form.

I have seen Whitfield play during the U18 champs and I have seen crouch play in the SANFL and crouch played better and against stronger opposition than Whitfield did.

Whitfield can rack up possessions at will, has a 16+ beep test, can do it all from what I have seen.

Crouch is a full time professional AFL player training at a Afl club. It's not a fair comparison.

I have to say it helps him. He could play AFL now. He has been doing very well getting in the bests for West Adelaide in the second best league in the land. Whitfield hasn't shown form in this level of game.

top 5. guy is a jet already and has only played 10 sanfl games, already averaging 20 touches a game in a pretty good midfield. for what we gave up for him he is nothing other than an utter bargain who is well worth the wait.

Not quite true. You also gave up pick 10 last year for him. Was a calculated risk as well as during last year I am sure GWS would have thought that the Crows pick would have a great chance of being another top10!

We also got Luke Brown as part of the trade. So I effectively looked at is as giving up the compensation pick for Crouch (as I thought it would be the better of the two picks), and pick 10 for Luke Brown. But yes, I believe GWS would be reasonably unhappy with how we've gone this year.

When Couch (or O'meara) move onto the senior list how exactly does it work ??? Are the Crows/GCS currently down 1 senior player on their list, or will a player need to go to make way for them? Also are they "selected" with the team's last ND selection, and do they count towards said teams 3 manditory changes to their list each year ???

I have no idea how they work in regards to the draft. Seeing as the AFC and GCFC have already given up things to get them (draft picks), I assume it would be treated more like a trade than a new player from the draft. Neither Crouch or O'meara are technically on AFL senior lists, so I guess we'd need to make room for them. Not sure if they count as one of the manditory list changes.

Where did you get this from? Not saying you're wrong, but I know that Crouch is already signed to a 3 year deal with Adelaide.

From my understanding they are basically like a rookie listed player, except not on our current list. They are simply added to senior list at end of the year.

pretty sure i remember hearing it when the mini draft picks were going around last year, i could be wrong

Thats the thing. When Rookies are elevated to the senior list they don't just "magically" appear, a spot is made for them and they are selected in the ND with a late pick. Is this the same for these kids ? And if so does it count towards the teams annual "3 changes" that they have to make each year (not that it will matter much this year as most clubs will prob clear out some cloggers and select some kids as it is supposedly a strong draft)

Yes a current senior player will need to make room for them once added to the list. I don't think they are included in draft choices as they were traded for.

The club nominates them and then the AFL assigns them a "draft pick" after the club has finished all of its live picks. The main reason I believe this was done, was to formalise the way these players were added to the main list and also allow them to be used as 1 of a clubs mandatory 3 picks in the draft.

At the end of the day it means jack squat, Brad will be added to our senior list at the end of this year and we will have to find a spot for him, no matter the AFL's red tape that surrounds it.
