Brad Dick - invited to train with Pies

Re: Brad Dick

Divine information is not required in Dick's case. He is a spindly build and is not going to have the confidence in his shoulder to tackle, making him a liability in modern defensive footy. I like Dick as much as anyone but experience says to forget him and focus on someone new. Baltimore Jacks' three examples are far meatier specimens than our own Dick. Still, he cannot do too much harm spending a year as a rookie, given the low draft quality this year.

I think Dick has worked hard, and is probably meatier than he once was, but TBH I still can't see him cracking it for a regular spot in the seniors.
Not one that he'll sustain for any length of time anyhow, i think he's stuffed his knees and shoulder.

Completely agree with MMD, he'll never throw himself into the tackle situation which is a huge handicap to maintaining pressure up forward.

Maybe I'm writing him off prematurely, he is an excitement machine and I'd love it if my thoughts prove fallaceous.

Re: Brad Dick

We have applied for and been given permission to allow BD to train with the club.

Positive move IMO. He has far more chance of making a go of it than #57 in the rookie draft this year.

I for one would have prefered to keep him on the senior list in front of Ben Sinclair who doesn't seem AFL quality.

I wouldn't be surprised if we redraft him in the ND if no other club beats us to it.

So you are saying that we now have a bigger Dick? (sorry can't help it).
If he is rejoins training soon then the chances of re-drafting him are very high.

I hate how amused I was at this post.

I much as I liked him as a player, I just can't see him coming back and proving to be a legitimate week in, week out player, not with his build anyway.

Re: Brad Dick

I thought he may have decided to give it away and the delisting was a mutual decision.

I think if he is training with us and he hasn't gone back to WA, then I think that we'll rookie him, along with Stubbs and Farmer. Reed will miss out IMO.

Re: Dick trains with Collingwood

Big chance to be rookied then, which i think would be a good option.

Has the potential to tear the vfl apart and be promoted mid season, of course could also flop but nothing lost

Re: Dick trains with Collingwood

Yeah, we know he's been invited, what we really want to now is whether or not he is going to accept the invite.

The "mail" around is Collingwood made the offer, but that Brad hasn't made up his mind yet, so it's totally in his hands, hope he chooses to come back, you would think he wouldn't be going to Arizona (knee rehab) and that being at the club would be the best place for him to get fully fit again, even if we don't rookie or draft him.

Yes, he has to nominate for the draft first (by Nov 11 ??), then he has to decide if he wants to train with Collingwood, continue to live in Melbourne & have one last crack at AFL. So I guess we will find out soon. The club is obviously trying to lure him back from his Perth holidays (I hope he has his moblie switched on!).

Re: Dick trains with Collingwood

I love Brad but he's basically a glass cannon. I had cardiac arrests whenever he got tackled during a game, and I have no doubt that he'll cop another serious injury at AFL level. You don't have 2(?) shoulder recos and blow out your knee in 27 games and then play another 150 without injury.

From a sentiment standpoint I sincerely hope we rookie him, but from a pragmatic stand point I think it'd be prudent to have someone else have a crack.

Re: Dick trains with Collingwood

It would be a great thing if he will have another crack at it,we all know he has talent to burn if we could just get a couple extra stones on him he could kill it at AFL level we all know that.

The first step is to come back to training, make it so Brad.:thumbsu::thumbsu::)

go the Pies.

Re: Dick trains with Collingwood

I see no mention of the club seeking permission for Stubbs or Farmer to train.

Anyone know what is happening with them?

Patrick Keane released the official list yesterday, Stubbs and Farmer were on it with Reed and Dick.:thumbsu:

I see that you didnt fall for the "I love Dick" statement that several others have. A sign of a methodical & careful thinker.
