With Rohde talking up the PSD option I wouldn't expect their offer to improve much picks wise.
Port need to hang on to their picks, so there is 0 chance of them giving 28+33 for Ebert, even with the Eagles sending their 2nd round ports way.

If you need it improved your best bet is going to be looking at a player not more picks.

You may get them to offer pick 28 instead of 33, but really Port do have the upper hand in negotiations, as Adelaide aren't interested which will make it hard for you to get what you think he is worth.

Adelaide is interested unfortunately Ebert is 'Port or bust'. One of the reasons why I wouldn't mind PSD'ing him.

Yeah, could see how you wouldn't want to pay that for a potential future captain of your side.

I'd love to pay that for a potential future captain of my side, but this thread is about Brad Ebert. Please try to keep up.

Not really if you are prepared to pay Ebert an amount that puts him in the top 10 of the club.

Not sure what your source on that is, but even assuming that it's true, new players always get better contracts than their true worth to encourage them to come over. Cameron Bruce is reportedly one of the highest-paid players at Hawthorn FFS.

^ if WC dont like our PP pick or our 33 let him go to the PSD.
Cos 1. if GC pick him up Port dont loose anything, and alot of Port supporters dont care (me included)
or 2. we get him for nothing and WC still loose

800+ posts for a good ordinary footballer. Really?

If West Coast supporters (and the club) acknowledged that he was a good ordinary footballer then this thread and the deal would already be done.

Yeah, again you are right, I mean, how could he possibly have leadership potential?

Former Brisbane Lions premiership captain and current AIS coach Michael Voss has also endorsed Ebert's leadership potential;
"I have no hesitation in saying that Brad Ebert has all the credentials to eventually captain a club, Voss said.
"He should certainly be a quality leader around any club. He has all the credentials to be a fine player and leader.[2]

He also captained SA's u18 side and made the AA side.

:thumbsu: that sums it up.

I hope it doesnt come down to the PSD option and a fair trade is worked out.

The problem is that I dont think Port have any players West Coast would want and it may come to pick 28 - take it or leave it.

If Port Adelaide acknowledged the fact they desperately want him at the club then a deal would already be done. You dont go offering big contracts to players you dont want. Unless your Port Adelaide... Hmm

For a supposedly crap player, PA are very keen on him and want to pay him lots of money.

EDIT - What Embers said ;)

Most WCE supporters would rather him go to the PSD if pick 33 was on the table. Pick 33 likely to be nothing special, so to see GWS take him would be worth it, easily.

Somehow I doubt Hawthorn 'desperately wanted' Cameron Bruce. With Cornes, Brogan and Motlop on the way out and the club now paying 100% of the salary cap as opposed to 92.5%, we have plenty of cash to throw around, making Ebert a beneficiary of that.

And if Port 'desperately wanted' Ebert they wouldn't have offered pick 33 first up.

People dont realise that we are taking mostly mature agred recruits this season. Mitch Clark will hopefully be traded in and on top of that we will probably get McGilligan (24 yr old from Claremont) who should be available at pick 100 odd anyway.

We really just need 2 picks inside the top 30 to set us up and that is all. That way we can get the two mature aged recruits in and also get 2 young replacements at the same time

the club should and are trying to get something close to his trade value, which is a fair bit more than 28

but thats all thats available. there is no three way deal, and nothing of value on ports list.

and with the overpriced playing contract port are apparently offering combined with the midfield time, theres no prospect of ebo signing back up with the eagles for another go around. it makes sense for him to go, even through the draft.

and port, they dont HAVE anything to offer at his real value. even with the PSD im pretty sure they would prefer to offer up pick 15 or 20, they do want to trade fairly, they just dont have anything around there. and they certainly cant give up pick 6.

so unless port trade in a pick at 15-20ish, west coast are going to get ripped off, which is not great, but its the situation, not for any particular bloody-mindedness on ports part, i dont think. 28 is all they can afford.

Their club rates him, even if their supporters don't. They most definitely want him back, and are willing to pay the $$ for him. They also desperately need the draft picks though so want to have their cake and eat it too.

West Coast are just posturing.
At the end of the day they will accept pick 28 or 33 unless they have Ross Lyon advising them.

I don't think it is posturing to be working to get 28 actually on the table. Do you even know what posturing means? It is not like we're trying to impress anyone here, we're trying to get the best deal in the circumstances, given his true value in an open market likely won't be attainable.

lol, this is an oxymoron. If Port wanted him 'desperately', a deal would have been done. A deal has not been done, so Port don't want him 'desperately'.

Of course he is wanted at Port Adelaide, though Port don't need to offer our 2nd and 3rd picks to get him. Why would Port rush a trade not weighted in our favour when Port are in a no lose situation? If we don't trade there is a 50% chance (IMO) of him lasting to Ports PSD pick.

Gee the offended knowing that you wasted a first round pick on a guy that was always going to want to play for Port at some stage or another is really ringing true.

What you should be asking is why didn't Adelaide pick him up especially when he was touted as being better than Dangerfield. They knew he was always going to be a risk with regards to his Port Adelaide heritage. They knew, Port knew, WCE didn't.

You guys wasted a pick and now your going to have to take whatever Port are kind enough to offer you as we are a very good chance of picking him up in the PSD.

WCE can posture all they like they are in no position to bargain here, you are not going to "win" this trade.

Pick 33 is what i would offer and would only offer 28 if there was something extra in it for us.

Its that or he walks to the PSD and we know we will eventually get our man even if it takes an extra year.

What you need to understand is that he belongs at Port Adelaide and he knows that.
