Nothing. i'm one of those that maligns him. Average player, well into downhill run at end of career.

Pass.

Noone i use to like him but now he is just shit i want to focus on getting farren and then Davis in the PSD

That's not the question. No one is saying "say, let's go get Brad Green - he's a gun". The question is: what would you pay for him?

Would you swap him for Steven Armstrong? Yes or no?
Yeah.

I'd do that deal.

I'd also offer our 5th-round draft pick.

Seems like a pretty random player to be discussing, given his age.

Why would they want Army? We got Army from them when they delisted him so i doubt they want him back lol.
The truth is no one would want Army. But if anyone says "yes, I'd swap Army, Fletcher, Graham etc for Green" then you would in fact pay something for him.

The thread asks "what would you pay"? Pretty simple question. But of course a bunch of w***ers who have completely forgtten we are an arse's whisker from bottom place have puled the old "would pay anything for him".

There's no question he is better than a few we have on our list, so what would you pay?

There are a heap of players who are "better than a few we have on our list" - that doesn't mean I would want to trade for them.

Sure you would if you can get them at right price. You seem to assume we should only talk about gun players we can get. In all seriousness, how many gun players are obtainable?

From an outsider perspective, I actually reckon he'd suit you more than any team, as IMO he plays his best footy as a lead-up forward. Melbourne has turned him into a loose, kick-chasing wingman but if you got 3-4 good years out of him you'd probably be back up in the top four by then.

I had previously posted that I wouldn't mind Davis for the right deal but have been thinking more about this and have come to this conclusion.

The thing to consider with a potential Green or Nick Davis trade/acquisition is that they are around 27/28 currently and while at a Victorian club that could mean another 4-5 years of productive footy, our players struggle to play past 30 with the extra travel seeming to take it's toll.

Ala almost all of "stars" Sumich, Jakovich, Heady, Kemp, McKenna, Evans, Pyke etc.........

So could only be 2-3 years so would have to question the wisdom.....

West Coast shouldn't want him because he is getting to old and will cost far to much.

But Eagles fans obvoiusly don't watch Melbourne.
Green has been a star this season, is going to dominate Melbournes B&F.
Turned 27 this year. Not a front runner in the slightest, watch a game, his courage and passion cannot be questioned, won't go anywhere, melbs captain in 2009. He would gain an early 2nd rounder at the absolute worst. Prob a first rounder from a contender. Watch some footy guys.

Great post ive been one to bag green of past cause i got sick of him getting cheap kicks and not getting the contested footy, But this year has been our best player and getting the contested footy and sitting in front of some big forwards in defence.

Bit of a front runner. great skills. Much maligned.

What would you give up for him?

I'd argue the premise that you've been putting up that if he's better than players on our list that you'd necessarily be prepared to trade those players - or indeed anything for him.

The real judgement is whether you think trading player X for him is a net better result than just delisting player X and taking another player in the draft. For us, our pick after our compulsory ones would be about pick 36-38 (assuming we do get a PP). Would you trade that pick for a 27 year old Green?

I wouldn't. The same reasoning is why I don't think we'd get much for Embley this year.

So you wouldn't do a straight swap for Jame Graham?

You failed to consider we can delist Army, grab say pick 38 and then swap Graham for Green.

No, I wouldn't do that. I don't think bringing in a 28 year old is the right move. It's not an objection to Green's ability, but he won't be a part of the future of the club - it's very akin to the recruitment of Collica in 2000 - short term gain (he was useful), but there was no way it was going to translate to anything useful long term.

I'd rather keep Graham, who might be having a poor season this year, but has shown he's AFL capable holding down a spot for 24 of 26 games in a premiership season.
