While Sheedy was more interested in discussing the upcoming game, including nominating Mal Michael as a possible match-up for the Bulldogs’ Brad Johnson, there was no escaping the historical significance of Saturday night.

That was on the EFC website... no offence to mal your a great full back and i would back you in everytime against a big full forward however brad johnson is way too quick.... the only way i think that match up would work was if we had another player double teaming and i dont like the idea of concentrating too much on johnson when there are players such as murphy aker and darcy hanging around the forward line....

thoughts?

For what its worth, the bigger back man seem to do a better job on Johnno. If he starts running up the ground a lot, then you need someone else to follow him, but if he stays a target in the forward line then a bigger bloke normally does a lot better. Seriously the hardest guy to match up in the competition.

slats will play on johnson

mal will just play in the hole as the dogs usually like to have a loose man in defence anyway. then when darcy pushes forward mal can man him up.

i would have thought we would match up like this:

b.johnson---slats
darcy---mal
aker---hislop
higgins---mj
hahn---mcphee
gia---nash/rama

Nash=Akermanis *He can stay with Aker in the mid

Bolton=B.Johnson *Bolton is tall and agile, plus he plays infront which will stop Johnson from leading forward

Michael=Darcy *Mal will overpower him, and Darcy isn't very agile

Hislop=Higgins *Hislop can play an attacking role on him

McPhee=Hahn *McPhee should play a attacking role 2 limit Hahn's time in the forward line

Giansiracusa=Lovett-Murray *If Gian goes in2 the backline Lovett-Murray should follow him and reduce the run off half back which could destroy us.

Slats could play on the Forward Flank reducing the Bulldog's run off half back
We should win this one :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

The Full team should look like:

F: Lovett Lloyd M.Johnson
HF: Slattery Lucas Welsh
C: Rama. Stanton J.Johnson
HB: McPhee Lovett.M Nash
B: Hislop Michael Bolton
Foll: Hille Watson Peverill
I/C: Ryder/Heffernan, Houli
Monfries, Laycock

EMG: Dyson, Lonergan, Johns

Slatts on Braddy.

Not good enough in the air.

Mal Michael on BJ may force him further up the field. The further away from goal he is, the better.

I'd prefer Nash freed up.

I want to see Nash on Cooney.
Cooney goes to sleep defensively at times, Nash can exploit that.

I know the dogs haven't had a lot of free to air TV this year, but Cooney has been fantastic, playing a more defensive midfielders role. For some reason i feel he will never get rid of his 'lazy' tag.

He may very well improved, but I still think it is an area of his game that can still be exploited.

Matthew Lloyd has improved his defensive pressure this year too, it's still an area he can work on though.

Cooney was battling with OP last year and early this, he's only recently started to put in 4qtrs of effort and the improvement is amazing.
