true but you getting a player who has at least 8 yrs of football left in him and would fill the void in both your fwd line and in the ruck.

cheers!

Love to get Brad Ottens to the AFC.

He would be a sensation in the tri-colours.

But I can't see the Tigers giving him up when you consider that their own ruck stocks would be pretty shoddy without him. Greg Stafford turns 31 next year and Ben Marsh - as we all know - is a spoonful of 'crapolata'.

I'd offer Burton & let Richmond think about what else they wanted (except, of course, our 1st round pick).

Ottens has yet to deliver & there is still a chance he won't deliver regardless of what club he plays for,

No chance we would trade our 1st round draft pick.

I have a bad feeling that whichever club gets Burton will actually have the acumen to put him up forward instead of the AFC who insist on effectively giving the opposition another player who kicks the ball to them when he plays on the wing.

Result? Burton gets traded, plays up forward for his new team and kicks 75 goals a year.

I agree. That's why Craig needs to play Burton in the forward line for the remaining 9 weeks. If the Birdman plays like 's**t, then we can feel more confident that trading him would be the right thing to do. However, if he bags 30-odd goals, then we probably should hold onto him.

Here's some previous discussion on Ottens.

Most think The trade will involve Burton and either another "depth" player (Perrie, Ladams, Gallager etc) or Burton and a pick Early 2nd round or late 1st.

How about Ottens and your best 1st round pick for Mcleod and Hudson?

has to be your 1st rnd pick involved and a player.

cheers!

No way in hell you will get our 1st pick for Ottens, his value is way down and is only worth a couple of players at best take Dogga and Burton and run for the hills;)

Stop saying 'cheers!'. It's called overusing a word.

Also, it's not your choice. It's your club's choice. And if you're realistic you'll know Ottens' trade value has plummeted with his indifferent performances in the last couple of years.

And that sound a win win situation for both clubs.

Its all about supply and demand. Even though Ottens hasnt set the world on fire recently, ex-All Australian ruckman who are 24 years of age are as rare as hens teeth. Adelaides aging population will ensure that if the deal is put on the table, they will do almost anything to get Ottens. That would include offering their first round draft pick

big assumption on your part is that Adelaide are desparate to get Ottens at any cost. Most Crows supporters think that they would like to get him, but only at a "fair" price. The Carey debacle still rings loudly in most people's ears.

I don't see Adelaide giving up a draft pick if it is inside the top 6 or so. There are too many question marks hanging over Ottens head for a prize that good.

I don't see Richmond giving up Ottens unless they can basically "rape" someone. I don't see that sucker being the Crows this year. The thing most tiger supporters seem to forget is that their ruck stocks would be perilously thin if they give up Ottens, you guys should be as desparate to keep him as Adelaide are meant to be to get him.

As you say supply and demand.
There are 3-4 very very good ruckman that will go high up in the draft.
If the draft was bereft of talls, or if Clarke had announced his retirement it might be different?

But selling the farm for Ottens - no - if he's so hot, why are the Richmond supporters so comfortable in trading him?
I would have said your in the same postion for talls as us - yet your prepared to let him go

Adelaide is guaranteed of at least a top 10 draft pick this year - probably either pick 7 or 8 after allowing for a couple of priority picks.

After the Carey fiasco, and the criticism the club has copped in recent days about trading a succession of first round draft picks, there's no way that Adelaide will trade that pick this year.

The only way we'd trade for Ottens would be a combination of Burton, and a player or lower pick.

Getting Ottens would be nice, but it's not a must.

Apparently Rucci's rumour is we're going to give up McLeod + Burton + 3rd round draft pick for Ottens + Fiora

Not the only way.

If we were to go after Ottens and Stinger was to leave, it could also be a 3 way deal between Eagles Crows and Tigers where Wira would end up at Richmond, Ottenst at Adelaide and Stinger at WC. Obviously it would have to be balanced out with players and/or draft picks.

I would be very surprised if we traded our 1st round draft pick and judging by the pasting that those suggestions are getting on radio I doubt AFC would risk a supporter backlash especially after they copped a fair bit with Ayres episode.

close!!!!
See my previous post.
Btw NO trades until much later this year AND the 2 most important people in the process (coaches) are not even in their positions yet.
That offer will dissapear if Ayres gets the Richmond gig.
Our trades this year will be about getting more early picks NOT giving them away, and dont be surprised if the 6 - 8 players that will move out at the end of the year are the bigger names, in trade for stable types and great picks.

Who do you think could be some of those bigger names??

Bigger names on their way:

Brett Burton, the star wingman and key forward type

Michael Doughty, the ultra-consistent and versatile wingman

James Gallagher, the nuggety and creative midfielder

Hayden Skipworth, the tenacious and long-kicking little man
