How do we feel about his inclusion? Time will tell obviously but I'm leaning towards the "he's a proven finals competitor and demands a good defender" school of thinking.

The reason I'm starting the thread is that a (non-swans) mate of mine reckons it's too big a risk playing him, especially with Lake's rebound etc....

What are your thoughts? Demands a good defender?

Why do people put "discuss" at the end of a post? It makes you sound like a forum voyeur, here I'll feed the pigeons and watch as they wrestle and maybe a squirrell will happen along and it will be an orgy and it will become the most popular thread ever and I'll get a free BF membership.

Ok, I think it is a huge risk. As has been mentioned countless times apparently Bradshaw returns well from a lay off, but I don't really beleive that. In the last three years apart from rd 14 2008, where he kicked 4 goals after a 2 game break he has been relatively quiet. I think the focus is on how well he performs after a restricted pre-season.

Lake is carrying a hip injury, so I am more concerned about the welfare of Bradshaw than what Lake might do. We say last night how underdone players can hurt in finals with Sandilands and Headland both ordinary while Bradley, Hasleby and Rhyce Palmer looked on from the grandstand.

If he is sitting on ice at half time I will be very annoyed as will we all, but he knows his body, and hopefully a couple of torps in the final term will take his tally to a half dozen.

And even not fully fit he will lead to the right spaces and will take Lake with him as you alluded to.

I guess if he is close to fit ( 60% tog 80% then a final..egad) we have to play him.

Worries me that White was dropped for Bradshaw. I'm glad he is included but if hye goes down our forward line isnt tall enough. I would have prob dropped Moore instead.

Talk about a prejudicial statement.

Facts:
Bradshaw outled Lake on at least two occassions
Lake tried to run off him and Bradshaw followed him all the way down to defence.
Bradshaw's kick that fell short and then went through Pyke and Mumford, he followed it up all the way from the 50 up to the goal line.

In the 2nd half he was badly hampered by that knee. That he was flying high and taking those marks was a credit to him. But you could just see he was not at full fitness and it seemed to affect his kicking. Still, played a very important role in us almost getting the win. The gamble was well worth it and he did his part. Had to kick those goals from right in front though.

Get him fit for next year and hopefully he can play out the year, cause he is definitely still one of the best power forwards going around. To play that well after 3 months out was a wonderful effort.

He was great. Missed two he'd normally kick. He's one of the most accurate players in history, to have kicked over 400 goals.

But losing the game to that pointblank shot at goal really, really hurt.

He also did a mad spoil on Lake at one stage. Showing his d-skills.

Grundy, hands down. He had a lot to deal with and he's been coping okay, but he ain't no Bolts or LRT.

No argument here. O'Keefe and Kirk were very close behind. Robert Murphy annihilated us. Kirk couldn't contain him. O'Keefe was just AWOL. He was B&F last year. He really needs to get fit.

Grundy has been good all year, but I think he was finally exposed as a newish player. I'd of loved to just stuck Bolts on Hall.

From an outside looking in perspective I thought Bradshaw was fantastic given the amount of footy he has missed and his opponent is likely to be the AA fullback this year.

I mean he did miss a few that ended up being brutal misses but if someone would say your FF is going to kick 3.4 against Lake you would take that because many forwards are lucky to score anything on him.

The issue I had was that the inside 50s were bombed too much and I thought some of the other forwards had no great impact on the match. Only two guys were multiple goal scorers and a lot of guys that normally work and kick the odd goal didn't really have the scoreboard impact.

You want to be looking at 14-15 goals a game, even with a very good defence if you are below that mark then it can be very dicey to win the game.

I don't think Hannebery, Jetta, McGlynn, Jack, O'Keefe or TDL had great games and combined they accounted for 2 goals. Most of those guys are young and inexperienced, several played their first final series, they will learn from this.

Bradshaw was well fed and could have ended up with a bagful if his kicking had been on.I t was a risk we had to take and I thought it was a good one.It seemed obvious to me that we were very focused on getting the ball into Braddy, almost Hall like as the Bulldogs were earlier in the season.

Braddy is usually a great kick but like everyone does miss some easy ones sometimes. Normally if he starts off kicking straight he keeps kicking straight so I wondered if he might have been affected by painkillers to the knee given at halftime. This happened to Fev earlier this year.
Then again maybe he just kicked a couple of shockers.
But congrats to the Swans for a great year - love the way the Swans play their footy, looking forward to watching your games next year

his kicking was okay before half time though - that's what had me thinking he might have lost some power/feeling after getting a half-time injection.

fair enough

He would of been compensated thinking he didnt have enough power etc a lot of the times. And trying to give more of a hoist but when doing that he would of been turning his hips to much when kicking...

It's alright he'll be ready next year :)

I had to feel for White, but Bradshaw still has it in him to be incredibly dangerous. He was a great target last night, at least for a few quarters. Always have to go with a premiership-winning, team-oriented full forward who makes defenders accountable rather than defends his gambling accounts.
