Not to ruin the thread, but I think he's been quite disappointing this year. Admittedly I shouldn't expect much from a first-year player, but he's been lucky to have held his spot for so long. Wouldn't be surprised if he was dropped back for a week or two.

Will be a great player within a couple of years.

He keeps his feet nicely. His handball to Dusty when we were 2 pts up was almost perfect, if only.... if if if.

Very happy with the drafting of Ellis though.

Personally I have been thrilled with what he has shown so far. Is obviously under instruction to take 1st and easiest option and preferably by foot so we can control the play. He is keeping his spot for a reason and it's not like he's keeping anyone out of the team.

Unusual thread considering he had no impact whatsoever on the game.

Watch it again. He was good when he came on. Not a sub player though. With his tank he should play a full game.

Agree Barnzy, my guess is that the coaches are being a bit consevative with him and using him as a sub to rest him while still giving him game time to continue his development/education. But I really like the fact that he's paired up with Reece off the field, can only see that as positive in his development and Reece's. :thumbsu:

In the last few weeks I've noticed that Ellis has great hands. Great hands are a hallmark of the genuinely good players. It's already obvious that this young fella is clearly going to surpass my expectations!

Shaky start to the year has seen him blossom now. Great to see him grab his spot with both hands and not let go. Hopefully can take his firm into the next 2 important games

Interesting that this thread was bumped a year to the day since it was started.

Played well yesterday, and looking for comfortable out there as he gets his chances. Particularly like the fact that the added attention that Dusty, Cotch and Lids receives allows some of the other kids to put up their hand. Previously, when the likes of Knighter, Brodders, Cogga and Johnson were shut down, no-one else was capable of stepping up. If the added "depth" we got in makes players like Ellis, Vlas, Arnott etc work harder to earn a spot, they'll be more capable when they do get a chance. Ellis looks like he doesn't want to hand up his senior spot in a hurry.

love this kid he easily could have gone top 10 in the draft and should have but we got him!

Recruiting staff got it right with Ellis as they have with Vlastuin.

Remember most wanted a ruckman?

I bloody rapt we got Vlastuin instead and we do have McBean waiting in the Tiger Lair as well.

39 posies for a 19 year old.

Astonishing.

Last teenager to rack up 39 was Scully. Greene got 38 last year as an 18 year old. He was gun last year he looks shit house this year.
I stand corrected. Nice! Even better!
