Debut album is titled 'Flamingo' and will be out on September 3.

First single off the album, 'Crossfire', has received plenty of airplay. I must say I am a huge fan of his work so far, even though it means the Killers are on hiatus. Although Ronnie Vanucci (the drummer from the Killers), plays on some of the tracks on Flamingo.

Any word on a possible tour?

The Killers are my favourite band in the world, bar none so I am going in to this album with a lot of optimism. According to Rolling Stone magazine the album floats between The Killers new wave stylings and a rootsier sound. Which sounds fine by me, personally I am hoping he is a surprise announcement for BDO this year as all the acts so far floated seem rather tame by comparision.

Do enjoy me some Killers so am also interested in how this goes.

Crossfire kinda reminded me of 'Human' a bit, which is OK I guess. Hopefully it'll be a bit different to Day & Age though.

Crossfire sounds like it belongs on the killers day and age album. Guess it shows how much Brandon Flowers actually is the killers? Still doesnt really compare though and id much rather a Killers album. Apparantly theres some big names on the production side though.

Most of the production is by Stuart Price who produced Day & Age, which explains a bit of Crossfire's sound. Flowers himself produces a few tracks along with a guy named Daniel Lannois who I personally haven't heard of.

Personally I heard a bit of Sam's Town in Crossfire, and from all reports some of the other tracks are the same. He's played a few shows with new gear thats recieved rave reviews.

I can't wait for the album, and any following tour. I adore The Killers, and Brandon is very much the heart and soul of the band, so his solo work will be equally as inspiring.

Here's praying for an end to the hiatus, though.

The reason for the 'hiatus' was because a few of the members wanted time off which they basically haven't had since before Hot Fuss. Yet Flowers wanted to go straight into the studio so he went in and created Flamingo which means a lot of his ideas are out of his system by next year and the next killers album can be more of a group effort.

loved hot fuss, haven't got into the other two albums as much. flowers has always had a great voice though.

Hot Fuss will always go down as my favourite album of all time, but I loved Sam's Town as well. Was absolutely stoked when I found out that Sam's Town was named Rolling Stone's Most Underrated Album of the Decade (ignorant bastards gave it 2 stars!). Day & Age is worth checking out it is pretty consistent overall I just think a lot of people were put off by lead single Human which isn't as instantly appealing as other lead singles.

So the album released yesterday, has anyone picked up a copy yet?

I got it today and whilst it may take a few listens to get into some songs it seems pretty good.:thumbsu: A lot of songs are a fairly new style for brandon I guess they sometimes sound a bit 'country' like.

I don't like all the songs though but I'm loving "Only the Young" and "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas", they're great songs, along with the first single "Crossfire" of course. :)

So what does everyone else think?

Was OK.

Similar lyrical themes and such as Day & Age and I guess you kind of get over it half way through, but anyway.

Some nice Sams Town-esque songs too.

I'm still undecided on this album. I'm going to give it a few more listens to make my mind up.

Strong first 4 tracks, love 'Only the Young', probably my favourite song on the album, tracks 5 and 6 do nothing for me, picks up again through 7 and 8 but finishes rather averagelu.

Like I said though, will give it more of a go, I often end up having different opinions to the ones I initially had.

Pretty gay? This album is raging homo!

Agree, definitely this generations Bon Jovi. Brandon Flowers is a man whose ambitions far outweigh his musical talent. Hot Fuss had a few good tunes on it Midnight Show, Andy You're A Star and Smile Like You Mean It, but besides those tunes, The Killers and his solo work is pretty piss poor. Not too mention homoerotic

I suppose for those not looking for a lot of meaning in life or music, his songs will mean plenty to them

Despite the lack of musical technicality I think you'd find it hard to argue his songs aren't meaningful.

Makes me throw up a little in my mouth.. Unplesent an best avoided. :)

The more I listen, the more I like it. :thumbsu:

Tracks 1-4 are great, dislike 5, 6 is good, track 7 'Magdalena' is awesome, Crossfire is obviously one of the standouts, and from memory 9 and 10 are solid too.

Of the bonus tracks, a couple of nice ones too. I thought it'd grow on me, and it definitely has.

Jilted Lovers and Broken Hearts is my favourite, then Crossfire.

Two great songs, highly rate them myself.

The rest of the album is ok, but those two really standout amongst an album that just ebbs and flows.

Any idea if he will tour?

love the killers and brandon but this is just an average album.... for me the enjoyment factor kicks in from track 3 onwards with hard enough. I find the first two songs las vegas and only the young quite boring (and find it surprising that he released only the young as the second single as jilted lovers would have been a much better choice). on the floor and swallow it are great titles though.
