Not saying you’re wrong but I thought Bruzzy loved Bucks.

What I have been told they did love him as a bloke, hard not to he is an amazing man.

Problem is he was so demanding, never happy, always wanted more improvement, I think you can only be pushed like that for so long until it becomes painful and just the same old shit.

I know that was DeGoey thoughts on Bucks and being best mates with Maynard I'm assuming they had the same opinions.

I never heard anything about him leaving but knew a fair few blokes were over it and wanted a fresh start.

Absolutely stoked Maynard has locked it in early.

For me, Brayden Maynard and Marley Williams started off as two similar players with similar roles and similar attitudes.

One worked hard and applied himself and got the best out of himself. The other one was Marley Williams.

Very much looking forward to more entertaining Copeland speeches ;) Love them!!!

As well as the obvious footballing ability, he bring so many qualities to the team - courage, tenacity, personality, humour, hard work ethic, loyalty. A top notch club man. Luv ya Bruzzy. So glad you're staying.

One could kick, the other could punch better

(Proof in the pudding: Marley now flirting with boxing 🥊 )

Yeah you can definitely tell a lot of the players are happy for this change. In the things they have said or implied. But I think everyone is pretty happy now. New change. new challenges.

What a comparison...

One had talent.. but could’ve easily not been drafted if Hine had not learned his lesson and overlooked the skin folds, time trials etc and picked on potential...

And he’s since applied himself year in and year out, and kept a cleanskin despite clearly having more white line fever than Tony Montana

The other..

Signs on early, no drama, no headlines, on only a 3 year deal, despite being one of the most durable and consistent players on the list.
Moore and JDG could learn a thing or two from him imo.

That make some Pies fans happy he only Signed for 3 Years and not 5 Years ;)

The other main differences are skills and size. Wrapped with this outcome, I’d have him as captain. Love his approach, we need more aggression and selflessness in our game.

Very good news, looking forward to Bruzzy in the black & white for years to come! Great that it's knocked over early too

Yep Maynard is an elite kick and built like a bull.

I don't think Marley could have got to much more out of himself, those types come around all the time.

Compare him to IQ for example who plays same role, look at the size and athletism difference.

Great news.

Where are all the hand wringing dickheads who said he was going?

He was never going anywhere. He’s Collingwood through and through and a great human.
Agree our best signing from 2014 draft, full of loyalty, full of courage and aggression, full of human decency. He has not got an ego unlike some of the high profile players at our club. He has to be made our next captain.

Doing something else with their hands.

I don't think I would've laughed at someone who picked Marley to be the better player back then.

He was astoundingly good 1-on-1 for a time there, to the point where every time the ball went to his man, I'd turn to my brother and say "Marley Williams: Never loses a contest" and it was pretty much always correct.

Unfortunately he never had that same level of discipline when it came to looking where he was kicking or not shanking it as far as he could every time he got it.

Eventually his discipline in defending waned too, and he became a below AFL-level player.

Spot on, I remember having that exact same conversation with Ben Hart, Marley Williams was a gun defender early on.
