Am i the only one that thinks that Brennan is overachieving?

I had him all last year and he was the most frustrating player to have in your dream team. Had about 2 spells of dominant DT scores 100+ then drops miserably towards the 30's 40's 50's...

Are we seeing a new Brennan this year or is he teasing us again like he does every year. He hasn't convinced me yet, he has played against two sides that haven't matched them this year, the real test will come this week.

Having said all this i will regret not picking him up if he maintains his current form, but surely it cannot last...

Look maybe your right, maybe people are getting sucked in and he is overachieving. How ever he is playing a new role now. Playing in the backline stopping an opponent from playing well is alot easy than playing in the mid field and up forward trying to create magic. Only time will tell however with the way he has been scoring latley his far from a dud!. Just reminding you as well, he is only 22 and is far from reaching his full potential and the prime years of his career. All i do know is im happy his im my team atm :)

It's a given he'll score badly against Sydney - just look at other cheap back types like Cornes against Sydney - however, I will get him this week purely for money. His position means he'll get cheap marks against most sides, and once he gets to around 300k (hopefully he will) I will trade him out for a Brown / Chapman / Johnson type.

I just calculated, if Brennan gets at least 70 hes price will increase by 35k. So if you want to make money its a great idea. But he is overachieving.

how is brennan over achieving? Matthews has said before that he has as much potential as anyone who has ever played for brisbane. He is just coming into the primary years of his carrer now, how is he over achieving? Has it occured to anyone that he may be starting to get it togther and play some good footy in his new position?

I think im gunna steer clear of Brennan in SuperCoach,
he couldn't possibly get more than 20 possesions week in/week out,
and he doesn't hit all his targets with his kicking.
Clangers kill scores also.

Did you watch any of his matches? Many of his touches were from chipping it around in defence. He played a similar position in the NAB Cup and averaged 40s. I doubt he can keep this up.

100% agree with everything you said

His numbers will continue in my opinion. Watching the way Brisbane play he will conitinue to get his cheap kicks while racking up lots of 1 %ers. He being used as a playmaker for Brisbane which is a little surpising considering in the past he has been a bit of a dud kick. I reckon he will average 70+ this year.

Totally agree, he's going to be the sweeper for Brisbane for years to come now. Matthews has finally found a position on the ground where he's not a liability. I'd expect him to hover around the 70-80 mark this year.

Lets not forget that Brisbane boned most of the veterans last year and Merrit & Brennan are the experience now. This will solidify their positions down back.

Expect the ball to be down back a lot with Brisbane this year and also expect them to **** around with it when they get possession.

Did BRENNAN play the sweeper role during the NAB Cup games?

Or is this a role he has just played in the opening rounds?

Reason I ask is because he did not score well in the NAB Cup games.

Well with the whole "cant kick backwards" rule that was in the NAB cup he wouldnt have had as much of the footy. I think he wont keep it up but the NAB cup is no form guide.

Brennan is simply a DUD! and cannot be trusted in ANYONES dreamteam, TRUST ME! i had him ALL of last year, continuously he would let me down, when he would get a 100, then get like 20 the next week, believe , what his doing right now is a fluke, it will not last, and dont anyone dare of regretting to pick him, because he dosnt deserve to be in anyones DT

Sorry Big_Tazz but that just sounds like sour grapes.

It is not hard to see that Brennan is playing a totally different role that suits his "errant" game style more. You are correct, he was a dud last year. No question, but you would be foolish to think that he is not going to rack up 70-80 points a round given the game style of the Lions and the faith & satisfaction he is giving his coach.

There we go, i quote myself, do people still think he is the real deal? Suddenly his score isn't so good in a losing side, although i will take note the team they played was sydney...

^^ lol the obligatory "I told you so" :D Though I think most people suspected Brennan would go down this week.

haha maybe a little, and true yes it was only one game but its following his pattern lat season, had those two 100+ games happened at the start last year, could well be identical to this season we'd be right where we are now.

I guess im just saying caution of the brennan bandwagon the wheels will eventually fall off!!
