Bret Thornton???

Bret Thronton has been the soul of our backline for years now. But in the next 2 to 5 years when were in the top 8 ( possible 4) do really need 5 Key backs ( Bower Jamison Austin Waite Thronton). Its a thought but still if Micheal Hurley slides in the draft???

I wouldn't say hed be a key defender in our best side. He used to because we had no one else. Expect him to play as that runing rebounding defender playing down the wings like we saw earlier in the year.

Thornton shouldn't play as a key back in an ideal world, and neither should Bower. Austin is still a way off being a sure thing for us and with Waite if we have enough backmen in a few years he could play up forward or on a wing.

So there is nothing wrong with that how i see it. Regardless, we always need backup talls anyway.

Playing a straight bat - i'd happily take a top 30 pick for T-Bird yet i'd be quite content to retain him too. Whilst his year last year (2007) was little short of pathetic i thought, with the maturing of our other backs, his form this past season as a rebounding defender was good - particularly early in the year before his injury.
