Bret Thornton???

One word, Why?

Why? Why do I not think St Kilda will accept Thornton and Bentick or Thornton and Carrazzo for Justin Koschitzke?? Because its a totally lopsided deal. Bentick would not make their best 22 and Carrots would struggle to - so you're effectively offering them Thornton + a fringe player for a guy who would certainly command better offers from many many clubs

Clubs arent stupid, that's why

With the seriousness of Croad's foot injury coming to light today, I reckon the Hawks might now be very keen to get Thornton again.

Could even consider giving up pick 16.

Certaintly not out of the question especially with there young list. I would be happy with pick 16 for him :thumbsu:

If it were half a chance he'd be headed to Glenferrie faster than Mrs Richard Pratt could say "you wearing that?"

Not sure Carrazzo is a fringe player in other clubs eyes. Just in the eyes of supporters who likw whipping boys.

In all honesty, although I would understand the rational, I would be quite nervous if we traded Thornton.

Two major reasons I wouldn't feel happy to trade;
1. We are making Hawthorn stronger and fixing a huge hole they have for minimum return from their point.
2. We are minimising our depth and leaving us vulnerable.

Having said that, if we do trade him, nothing less than a first round pick.

Exactly, no point in trading him for anything less than a first round...which we won't get. Let's have some depth first before we start talking about trading players for picks.

Who is going to fill his spot while the second rounder/Hurley developes?? Austin?? Then who fills the vacant roles if injuries to Bower and Jamison repeat themselves

Re: Bret Thronton???

Thornton shouldn't play as a key back in an ideal world, and neither should Bower. Austin is still a way off being a sure thing for us and with Waite if we have enough backmen in a few years he could play up forward or on a wing.

So there is nothing wrong with that how i see it. Regardless, we always need backup talls anyway.

Don't quite agree. His effort's this season on key players, specifically Lance Franklin leads me to believe he could play on the big boys of the AFL.

Doubt Waite will stay a backman either.
