Giants could have traded Jed Anderson to Carlton if they really wanted Thornton.

Stephen Gilham.

Bemusing to hear Setanta state that Thornton might find it hard at training. :D

Irish said that the weather is harder than in Melbourne. ..

Here's a video to remind us of what, in my opinion, was Thornton's best game

In a functional forward line, he was always dangerous, very underrated as a floating forward/defender with an excellent pair of hands and a decent footy brain. .. Just couldn't put his stamp on a particular position and was subject to lapsing into outbursts. .. Dark years ruined his chances of producing his best football, much like Houla and a few others. ..

He was also an accurate shot at goal.

Good luck at GWS Bret.

One of the few games I've managed to take my girlfriend (a Dogs fan whose not super into footy).

"So this Thornton guy, he's the Wayne Carey of the AFL right?" - other fans nearby laugh or facepalm noticeably.
"No, he's not a headcase."
"He's a bloody good footballer. He's marking everything."

Loved watching him that day. It was brilliant.

FWIW I think there was still a place at Carlton for T-Bird. He was such a versatile player and was crucified by the MC. As a third tall forward that could easily swing into the back line he was immeasurable. Was so hoping MM would have a chat and convince him to stay. Will miss him at CFC.

All the best bloke, show em what you can really do. Say hi to Setants, another who was somewhat crucified by the MC IMHO.

Yeah you gotta wonder what may have been had they gotten rid of Bower a year earlier instead of Setanta...
