I dunno why more people don't do this - if you have a digital radio you can pause it to sync with TV.

most digital televisions, and certainly IQ will pause so you can sync with the delay on the web stream/tune-in radio if that's how you access the audio.

i've been doing this for a year. I don't understand why so many people put up with Taylor when it's so easy! I'm more than happy to watch on a 10 second delay so I don't have to listen to him!

the unfortunate reality though is that if there's more than one thing on that I want to watch eg. the 2nd game, A league, NRL... well, invariably the Ch 7 game just doesn't get watched...

I turn down the TV sound and turn on the radio. Even just a normal radio is only very slightly ahead of the TV pictures and it's certainly much less annoying than BT. It also has the added advantage that you get a little bit of analysis after the goals are scored when the TV goes to an ad break. Also, the radio guys are better at calling the games and name all the players instead of going off on irrelevant tangents all the time leaving the viewers wondering who has the ball!

"Brett Goodes robbed of an AFL career by recruiters"

I was glad to hear - all night long - that it's a great story and that Goodes is already at the level of a 100 year player. The FACT that he took out Caddy with a elbow to the jaw (and ran past the ball to do it) was minimalized as much as possible.

Enjoy your suspension Goodes you gutless prick.

Aaaah Have you tried to listen to Rex Hunt and Shane Crawford call a game? Particularly if you follow a team. Talk about an experience of self indulgence. Those two that is. Honestly, how Rex keeps getting contracts is beyond me.

Difference on radio is that there is usually a number of alternatives. Therefore you can have commentators, such as Rex, who appeal to different audiences.

Posted this on the Geelong board. You could sum up the entire Saturday night crew in an actual 10-word Richo quote from last night:

Geez, get a load of that bloke in the crowd!

The game is an unwanted distraction to these clowns. They are the worst.

'But what about...?'

Nope...they are the worst.

We had about 6 guys called Tutt last night, apparently.
On one occasion when Veszpremi had a shot on goal, and it took BT about 3 tries to get his name right. He eventually settled on Veszpremi after he confirmed it was Tutt :p.
Also can't tell the difference between Roughead and Jones.

Just horrible to listen to.

He's much better on the radio, it must be something about the TV bringing out the worst in commentators (in the case of Dwayne Russell)

Yeah i actually had a brief listen to BT on 3AW on the weekend, and there was very little of the bullshats you get from him on TV. This further proves the theory that watching footy on TV is just generally getting shittier.

And that the TV directors have a big say in how appalling the commentary is. They'll all be under instructions because some moron thinks fans enjoy commentators being the stars. These people should be shot.

Yes, you are correct. I should have been more specific. I generally limit myself to ABC radio or SEN both of which I think are quite good. Haven't listed to Rex Hunt for years and can't stand the Tripe M commentaters, constantly trying to outsmart each other with there peurile in jokes. No idea who is on 3AW these days as I have been avoiding them since the Rex Hunt days.

"I think Jason Dunstall may have won 2 premierships in premiership years as well"

BT and Dars going on about underpants.......BT wears his undies high and Dars thinks its hysterical. o_O

Top shelf footy banter right there people

Credit to Sam Lane, she looked annoyed and said "Can we get back to the game??"

Was cringe worthy stuff. In all honesty though Darcy would have to be one of the most self indulgent individuals going around. And to think that the AFL employs this bloke to sit on it's rules committee

Had a couple of knee recos in his time, might have some knowledge in creating rules to help prevent injuries to ruckman. No idea what he does on the rules committee though.
