Conveniently ignoring the fact that I have said several times that it wasn't the greatest game of all time. Well played.

FWIW, one of the most entertaining games I have seen this year was a 0-0 draw between City and Tottenham.

It all depends on the quality of play and entertainment value. What dyertribe is pointing out, more or less, is that the quality of the Everton-Man City game was very, very poor and as such it was a definite bore draw as there was very little to inspire from either side. That's all.

You picked that up just from the highlights, or are you basing your opinion on other things.

Don't mind if it's the latter (although I'll certainly be happy to disagree with you) if it's the former I would argue that it is next to impossible to make any sort of judgement.

I get the feeling that too many people see a scoreline and make an assumption as to what the game was like. I don't know about the Everton support but the overall feeling at the moment from Man City people who were at the game is one of bemusement when they hear and read boring 0-0 draw comments from people who weren't.

FWIW, overall quality of play, and "pretty football" are important factor in the entertainment value of a football match, but I have seem some very entertaining battles that lack either.

OK... now that some semblance of normality has wrested control from the preceding cut and thrust.

Re the goalscoring chances. Yes there were some... mainly from the odd goalmouth scramble or shot that fizzed over the bar from 18 yards but there was no real quality in the match whatsoever.

The passing games of both sides were completely lacking - in admittedly poor conditions yes, but I'd expect internationals at Premiership level to be capable of stringing 2 or 3 passes together - and on more than one occasion there seemed to be no cohesion or plan whatsoever.

As for getting stuck in... the only man in a City shirt who seemed to be up for a scrap was young Joey Barton who was treated leniently by that perennial tw@t Jeff Winter. The rest seemed to be going through the motions and Fowler and Anelka were well off form although the pride of Toxteth went close on one occasion.

In the final five minutes yes, it was end-to-end. However there was no plan or buildup whatsoever, the sort of headless chicken football you'd expect to see at a much lower standard as both clubs confirmed just how off-form they are. From your perspective of course the game would've seemed like more - your lads were playing and the three points were there for the taking for the duration. For a neutral sitting through it it was quite awful.

That's my take, like it or not.

As much as that era was horridly boring, it did produce one of the better Arsenal chants I've heard. 'One-Nil to the Arsenal ...', it's one of my favourites.

Obviously not. Personally I don't give a crap whether you (or anyone else) found the match boring, but I don't see the point being on a message board if you don't post a response when someone writes something you disagree with.

Again you made a number of comments about the quality of the goal scoring opportunities, the effort of the players and the standard of the passing that I found to be totally incompatible with the game that I saw. Would you rather just post what you like and have every sit back in awe, silently agreeing with everything you say.

Of course not. I am merely of the opinion that after two pages of ranting it's best simply to agree to disagree. We've both said our piece, disagree and that's that. Nothing to prove, nothing to gain.
