One of the funniest things I've heard on The Bill, was last week when some old dude abducted his Granddaughter. In the initial stages, the parents raised concern as to whether or not their daughter had been abducted and June Ackland goes:

"Please relax, abductions are very, very rare!"

What the?? There's AT LEAST one abduction in Sunhill per episode!!

I couldn't help but laugh and seriously think the writers put it in as a gag!

That was almost the worst episode ever. The ending just didnt bear any realation to the beginning it was almost like an actor didnt turn up and they had to rewrite the last couple of scenes after doing most of the shooting.

It's something you don't really notice unless you watch the 2pm episodes, quite a few bob up again though.

I saw one episode where a scruffy Mickey Webb, musn't have had a shave in a couple of months, was being interviewed about some eastern european sex slave found locked in the basement of his house.

Also, I can remember another where one of the pedofiles from the Jamie of Lock Stock fame storyline was previously a profiler, or some other such specialist cop, they roped in to solve a murder.

Santini/Fox was the beginning of the end for a once great show. The move from the self contained 1/2 hour episodes killed it - turned into a soapie.

The great days were the Burnside/Ted Roach/Tosh Lyons/Mike Dashwood/Viv Martello/Alastair Gregg etc ones.
