OK this sh*t is getting bad real quick. 611 mm of rain in 3 days. That's more then in the 2011 and 1974 floods.

I've never seen rain like this.

I'm half way up a hill and the water is running down the properties like a river. Managing to keep it out with sand bags but its been an effort.

The actual proper flood is also creeping up from the bottom of the road. Should be safe if predictions are right but predictions are being sharply upgraded every 6 hours.

Power went 7 hours ago and not expected to be back for many days.

Brisbane River hit 3.5 metres earlier this evening. Just hours before they were predicting it would only hit 3m.

3 dead already. Rains getting harder.

Keep safe.

Is the government to blame for not preparing after 2011?

Is it just bad Luck?

Have they stuffed up the timing of dam releases once Again?

Climate change in action. The next big flood wasn't supposed to be for another 20 plus years.

They started the dam releases at 67% but within 2 days it was up to 167% and 180% just a couple of hours later.

I'm really not sure what the government could do. I'm getting regular text messages from the council so communication is good.

How does a dam get to 180 percent. Like where is that 80 percent of water given the dam is full at 100 percent.

No mention of climate change causing this by anyone.
Murdoch media attacking Palaszczuk for not making Queensland flood resistant, Palaszczuk promoting coal and building Adani, anyone who mentions climate change is attacked.
Millions of cows ,sheep and native animals have drowned.
Welcome to redneck Australia with it's head buried in the sand.

If only scientists could have warned the world 40 years ago ? so we could have done something to stop all these 1 in hundred extreme weather events…

Brent Mydland barely spent a waking moment sober but even he knew we were struggling. This was a fortnight before he died.

We don't own this place, though we act as if we did
It's a loan from the children of our children's kids

No mention that the Morrison Government took Lismore (Labor) off the list of areas to have flood mitigation grants either, even though it is the most flood prone town in NSW.
Hopefully the campaigner drowns during his mandatory photo op once the SES and residents have done all the work.
Woe-betide the guy/gal who tells him to get ****ed and refuses to shake his hand.

Lived in Jimboomba during the 2011(?) and 2017 floods, off memory there was a couple of smaller ones in there. In Perth now but off social media posts this is looking worse than 2017. They built a bridge to get in/out of Jimboomba for this exact reason as the town got isolated and it’s also flooded this time.

I don't want to accuse you of making something up, but could you provide a link verifying this? This government is pretty easy to demonise, and I don't want to get caught by confirmation bias.

Qld premier blaming the bureau of meteorology for her poorly timed dam releases. It stopped raining over 30 hours ago but the floods aren't going down.
Lower levels of Qld are getting flooded out.
Hope you're staying safe.
Have heard that some people's power was cut. A mate of mine who now lives in Brisbane had his cut off. His street is flooded out and was forced to help others out who were worse than him.
Some of the tides are coming in and making it worse.
