Toast Brock Mclean - A Recruiting Masterstroke

I liked him at Melbourne, I was rapt when I heard he was coming to the Blues, he's been great so far, but the real good part will be when we get Judd back to the midfield..dare I say awesome foursome??

Been a great get for sure, masterstroke is a bit over the top, Roughhead would be a masterstroke

I hope I'm not going a little over the top here based on two games but ...

Brock McLean is the greatest Carlton trade acquisition in the clubs history (including the Judd trade).

If he plays the entire year like he has the first two games, yes it will be a recruiting masterstroke. I think two games is way too early to say it was a masterstroke, lets just be happy with what he has done so far and hope he keeps it up!

He gets better. He'll hit his straps about round 5 or 6. I expect a top 5 BnF finish from the lad.

All this talk about his kicking... nailed a 50 metre goal on the trot :thumbsu: Its great to finally have a lad who can win the hard ball on his knees and kick a sausage every now and then. Certainly starting to earn that number on his back.

I can honestly say I never had a doubt in him. Good stuff. I love being proven right about good things like this :D

Has anyone noticed if that backward feral Colonwood supporter still has Brock M'Clean watch as his sig ?....i'm tipping the moron has changed it pretty quicly . ;)

Loving Brock's work at the moment ..lets hope he keeps it up :thumbsu:

umm....yes just a little. I'm all for giving credit where credit is due, and I'm more than happy with Brock but....

C. Judd = premiership captain, brownlow medalist, leader, inspirational

Diesel Williams :o
:thumbsu:

Nope, Brock's better :)
:eek::eek:

OMG, you can't be serious....Diesel williams = dual brownlow medalist, premiership player, absolute freak player, that guy was a genius with the footy in his hands.

I must say, I am a bit biased as Diesel Williams is one of my FAV's of all time, no dis respect C4, but lets leave the comparisons to absolute champions to a bit later....

:D:D

We probably were saying the same thing when we gave up a pick for Mick Mansfield in the '99 National Draft as Mick was a very servicable player for us. But that pick was given to the Cats who used this for Paul Chapman.

Let time tell on this one, i personally wasn't too impressed about this, but i hope we do come out in front.

yes that's true, but it doesn't change the fact that C4 reckons brock is a better trade and I disagree. Judd did do all those things at another club but does that make him less of a player?? He's still a champion...he is our captain, and he is still inspirational to our youngsters.

if they nab roughead i reckon there'd be a fair bit of master stroking going on with us blues fan..

ctacp
curlier than a catoggio pube

I think people are taking me way too seriously, and don't realise that I'm taking the piss.

oh crap, sorry c4 my bad. didn't realize yr humour, but in my defence there were no real give aways unless one is familiar with yr posts...the use of smilies etc helps people like me to catch on:o:cool: etc....

I do though agree with yr enthusiasm, Brock is a great aquisition for the blues....hopefully he keeps on doing what he has been.

bring on Juddy!!!!

When you can reach for the ball with your rite hand,
while you push your opponents head into the dirt with your left,
on your knees in a scramble for the ball,
well... that's ok with me.

He's got some grunt in him this bloke. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

We'll get years out of this fella,
as long as the game doesn't get too quick for him.

Been great for us thus far and once Judd is included we will really see the benefit of his in and under work. Apparently his circle work aint half bad either.

You can bet your bottom dollar the negative posters that flood this board only when we lose to start the BS whinging threads would be getting well and truly stuck into Brock had his form been anything worse then mediocre. You dont hear boo though when it goes the other way....

While I don't consider myself a 'negative' poster, rather a REALISTIC one, I felt Brock wasn't much chop pre-season but has been handy in the first two games. Remember so far he has only played against Richmond who aren't a barometer for anythig except maybe Amateur Football and the Jonathan Brown Paddlepop Lions who are a one-man-one-trick pony who will get found out in away games from their two-kick-to-goal ground..

Remember two years ago how Hadley was getting good press early in the season and faded, probably due to injury.

I think McClean's litmus test will come against the Bummers - who we must smash to make a statement about where we wanna finish this year.

It will also be interesting to see how he plays against the Crows and Saints teams that have humiliated us for too long.

But so far he has shown great endeavour and grit in his plays, alot more than he has showed at Melbourne, but again, early days yet.

Opinion during pre season - one of the worst AFL trade ever.

Opinion after first two rounds - so far the best trade from last year (by a street!)

Giving up pick 11 for him might have seemed a bit high at the time and as a player alone probably was (given the risk that the speed of the game has passed him by)... BUT the fact that we needed him so badly (and this will just seem more and more evident as the season progresses) is proof that Ratts and Wh seem to be on the money.

Was recruiting him a masterstroke - definately ... but as yet its still too early to call it as such. By Round 15 I am confident it will be looked at as a pivital trade in helping us secure #17.

The fact he is not quick is a blessing for him and us. Means he will be able to stay on the ground for the entire game, which he has done thus far this season.

When Judd was having to do the extracting himself we suffered when he left the ground for his spells. This will not happen with Brock. Plus it will mean he does not have the wear and tear on his body that the running mids do and will be around for quite a while.

Great call getting him to our club, cant wait for the Juddstar to come back and gain the full benefits of Brock doing the in and under work and feeding it out to Judd so he can blast out of packs and start kicking those goals we all remember him for at the weagles.

Spot on, those of us who didn't turn on him after a few meaningless, experimental practice games are well and truly vindicated. The guys who stuck the knives into him look like the fools we told them they were at the time.
