Mihocek is extrmeely handy 3rd tall type , he offers a real strong contests, instinctive football decisions and very good at taking his chances on Goal. he;s not real KPF or particularity quick. A lot of quality KPD have significant advantages playing on Mihocek.. He's playing in a collingwood forward line or NQR talls and mid sized midfielders making a forwards, which often means he's playing out of his weight division a bit. In a good forward line he's real threat and contributor, but in one without any other quality talls he will stuggle on occasions. I think he would be good addition to most teams. But he's not what I would call a core player to team structure. Big Fan, extremely happy to have him but he;s not going to be the messiah for anyone's forward line.

Agree he’s handy. Definitely capable in his role. But he doesn’t need a thread on this board as Collingwood aren’t gonna have any competition signing him.

Agree he is more third tall type
Which begs the question who will pies get to play first and second tall forward?

Bueller?.......... Bueller?

It remains an open question, of furious debate among us collingwood types. No surprise he did well with Cox and Kelly in the side, and less so when without.
Shame about Kelly , looked like he had potential. JDG is handy mid sized that helps as it gives defeinders somethng majpr to worry abut tall or not, he;s a fucos., Oh thats right he's out too. Cox, Camerson, Reid (no , I serious he's fit, and almost ready to go) , the playing of Roughhead or Moore forward.

The Whole collinwgood side is huge pile opf NQR, lumpy but exciting parts that if they can be assembled in the right way promise all things, but it's non trivial problem to solve.

I guess the question is more who does go then to accomodate grundys big multi year increase and many others out of contract who will want an increase also combined with the already tight cap

The Collingwood and giants cap are the 2 to monitor closely this year

Richmond also until rance retired and freed up space

There is no way Mihocek leaves. Absolutely none.

Aish made way to help with Grundy's contract.

De Goey signed a one year deal on a decent coin and is unlikely to justify more. We fit him under our current cap.

Moore is the one that likely earns a pay rise.

In terms of our cap we re-signed Mayne on less. Have lost Wells contract. Have the opportunity to do something about Beams. We were willing to lose Shaz last year. Pendles contract will be reducing. And we have a big list of OOC players which gives our list manager flexibility, like with Aish last year.

I'm confident we'll keep who want including Mihocek. There might be some collatoral damage with some decent but not critical players like Shaz.

I disagree that Mihocek is a third tall. He holds down CHF for us and keeps competiting and kicking goals. 192cm isn't that undersized. Particularly when you're as competitive and committed as Mihocek is. Plays a typical CHF role. People are fooled by the missing 2cm.

Collingwood runs an unconventional forward set-up where our full forward is DeGoey or Stephenson (sometimes Elliott or Hoskin-Elliott). Cox actually starts in a pocket and tries to drag tall defenders away from full forward, compete aerially if we're forced to kick long, and pinch hit in the ruck.

We don't necesarily need a star as our tall deep key forward (pocket). Just someone who is enough to draw tall defenders, bring the ball to ground and make the most of their opportunities. Cox right now isn't competing in the air well enough which is why he was dropped. He doesn't handle body contact well and defenders know it.

He can play chf but I think he would excel as the third tall in a side

You love Mihocek don't you, should run a blog documenting Mihocek's performance every match...

Today was not Mihocek's fault. He was mediocre, but people should stop thinking of him as a matchmaker - he's not. He needs good players playing around him (De Goey for example), you just can't expect him to dominate when he's taking on opposition's #1/2 defender.

The game against Freo was honestly just horrid by our midfielders. We just have no balance between our midfield trio at all. Noone's playing the Selwood/ Cotchin/Lyons role, everyone wants to be the Danger/Martin/Neale of the game. Elliot has always been a purely offensive player around contests, but you just can't play him alongside Treloar (epitomy of one way runner) and Adams (becoming more and more like Treloar when he used to apply a lot of pressure). We desperately need Pendles, not just because he's a star, but also his importance around contests. Bigger body - takes on your Danger/Fyfe/Cripps, allowing Treloar/Adams to play on weaker opponents. Opposition mids also have to watch out for Pendles because he can rarely hurt you with his delivery from contests. Pendles is literally a simultaneous tagger/pressure-applier/ball-winner/clearance-player/effective receiver all at once. You see his numbers drop year by year because he's becoming more of a team player, but his importance has certainly held up over the years.

Out-of-contract Collingwood forward Brody Mihocek has been offered a “below-par contract offer”, according to a report in the Herald Sun.

Mihocek, who has kicked 82 goals in his 54 matches for the Pies, was taken in the 2018 rookie draft in what now looks like a masterstroke.

Still, with Collingwood’s salary cap squeeze, the 27-year-old’s manager Anthony McConville said there was still plenty to be done if Mihocek is to remain a Pie.

“It has been slow going so we are still working with Collingwood and it might take a little time. Hopefully we will be able to get there, and if not we will see.”

The Pies are juggling several contract negotiations, including star defender Darcy Moore, forward Jordan De Goey and young gun Josh Daicos.

Jeez, this looks like an absolute stinker. Paying Cox $550k and Beams a huge whack to finger paint.

The Pies don't normally make these blues, but this makes some other contracts around the league look great. When you are paying Mason Cox that money and looking like struggling to keep far and away better players, particularly your best forward in Mihocek, not great. Ouch.

Collingwood surely have to find some money for him somewhere? If they lose him their premiership window is closed IMO. They need more competent key forwards, not less.

Certainly not winning anything with Cox and Cameron as your focal points.

Would love him at the Dee's.

His trade worth will be interesting by the sounds of it. If he gets squeezed put of the pies it implies he's not worth much, conversely he's going to attract offers of 5-600k pa from rival clubs which makes him a 1st rounder.
