Ok,

Over the last couple of hours I have been watching broken bone videos on youtube. My question, how many fellow posters have broken bones.

I broke my leg in High school ( year 11 ). I was going up for a rebound, when I landed my leg went from under me while my body fell on top. I broke my leg in 3 places and took 6 months to learn how to work again. I remember the Doc telling me that I was very lucky........He said "The break was that severe that it was close to shattering all the little bones in your leg"

I will say this........It was the most painful experience of my life. Not so-much the break but the recovery straight after the surgery . I ended up with 1 metal plate (the size of half my leg), 2 screws near my ankle and another 7 going up my shin. I was supposed to take them out 5 years ago..........It is safe to say that they will be there until I die.

Anybody else got a broken bone story ???????

Broken the same bone in my leg 2 years apart.First time was the night before I started school for the year[I think grade 1 or 2] and I was outside my house with a few neighbourhood kids and my brother and I rode a skateboard for the first and last time.I was going slow, hit a pebble and fell off onto the grass and busted my leg.Ended up in traction for weeks.

Two years later I was at school at lunch time playing chasey and slipped on some dewy grass and busted it again.Thankfully just plastered [the leg,not me] this time and got around in a wheelchair for a few weeks.

Only fractures, I imagine a break would be pretty terrible

Recently hurt my ankle and having to get around without the use of a leg was absolute torture

Really one if those realising what you take for granted moments

They say a fracture is worst than a clean break......o_O

Got king hit in a game of footy when I was 19 and ended up with a broken jaw.

Had a plate and 3 screws inserted in to my jaw and had it wired shut for 2 weeks while it healed. I could only eat soup or drink things like sustagen.

I dropped from 75kgs to 64kgs in those 2 weeks and it took about 2 months to get the weight back on.

Apart from that I broke my elbow when I was in year 1 falling off a climbing frame and have also broken a couple of fingers playing cricket.

Only broken my arm when I was about four. Remember those car wheel towers they used to have a school... fell of the top of one of them. Solid enough fall for a young fella. Left arm is still very double jointed. pretty cool actually.

Not a bone but currently sporting a torn tendon on the top my finger. Can be quite a serious injury but fortunately only my little finger. Get some funny looks when I show people cause it doesn't really resemble a finger at the moment. 1st phalanx and 2nd phalanx are pretty close to being at right angles, and then the 3rd phalanx more or less guys back to point in the same direction as the 1st phalanx. gotta get surgery at some point but needless to say I'm not being rushed through the waiting list. they said any other finger and i'd have been out months ago.

inb4 go start a tendon thread ;)

Broke my ribs once, cracked them 2 other times. All you need is a sneeze or cough and the pain will have you rolling around on the ground crying for your mummy. Once drunk, once sport, once car accident.

Shattered my thumb knuckle also on the beers which required my knuckle to be fused together so I virtually have no movement in that thumb. It's about half the size of the other one thesedays as it doesn't have any definition due to lack of use. Everynow and then I knock it right on the top and it somehow lets out a crack. Swells to the size of a balloon.

Drinking hasnt been kind to my bones :(

Broke a couple of teeth skiing when I was a kid. Decided to take it easy for a few days and try snowboarding instead. First time up the chairlift, fell over at the top and broke my wrist.

Will not lie, I did chuckle abit reading this.........sorry.

All mad stories guys, It makes me cringe reading your comments :)

I used to seemingly have bones made of glass. Broke my tibula and fibula at age 7, followed by 3 separate times I broke my arm, broke my cheekbone, knocked out 4 teeth, all of which I kept but required root canals. The dislocated shoulder I got in my last rugby game has proved to give me the most grief long term though, my bench press and OHP are shocking.

Leg was easily the worst, had it re broken to straighten it, ages in a wheelchair. One of the times I broke my arm the hospital said it was just a sprain. Month later it still hurt, went back in, small break in my wrist they found on a cat scan, 6 weeks in a cast just before the start of water skiing season.

Have had a few injuries but no broken bones. #masterrace

Tore my kneecap in half running home from school as a young tacker due to being born with a bi-kneecap which was never fused properly and split upon just the faintest bit of duress. Was extraordinary pain, I've had a knee reco and rupturing your knee's tendons and meniscus wasn't all that bad in comparison.

Yes.I thought I'd broken it again last year but the doctor said it's just the muscles around it need some regular stretching and exercise.Been okay since.

All of my fingers at least once, including a compound fracture of my right pinkie, right big toe 3x, right little toe 2x, right wrist, left elbow... Also plenty of soft tissue injuries.

I broke each of my arms within 4 for months of each other when I was 10-11. One was falling off monkey bars, the other was driving a little quad bike into a fence.

Most important question - did your parents capture them incidents on video and do the right thing by sending it into Australias Funniest Home Videos ?

Complete with ridiculous voiceover? Fortunately not.

The monkey bars one was at school, and embarrassing in how soft it was. The other one was apparently pretty amusing, I'm reasonably small and light, and the impact did send me flying quite a bit. :p
