Heard whispers that Freo are willing to put this guy up for trade. Maybe someone can back me up on this or not?

If it's true that he may be available, I believe he would be great for us, complimenting our outside mids with his contested game. His stats for Freo are largely irrelevant as Ross never gave him enough opportunity to play in the middle, his best position. Instead let him rot as a defensive forward for the most part this season.

He ss tough, quick, and can also play across half back and even play a lock down role if required.

Now that we have some cap space, I would love it if we could pick him up somehow.

Do people agree? Why/why not?

Broughton and Roberton for one of our first rounders? I'd think about it.

Come on matty your far better than that! There is no way that deal would even be considered with the injury concerns Broughton has and the averageness of Roberton.

I said "think", then I'd change my mind and only offer our second rounder.;)

anyone else see the contradictions ?

and, IMO, no. good in fastasy leagues only.

That's better. However it just won't happen either because it would mean another two delistings and IMO some continuity in our reserves might be handy for once.

The point I was trying to raise is that despite him playing his best footy in the middle of the park, Ross opted to use him as more of a stop-gap as he played others through the middle more often than him.

and that says it all. is he better than sidebottom, currently number 6 in line for a mid role ?

in other words, he'd be forced to play the same role with us.

again, no.

Comparing him to Sidebottom is not fair, Sidey is an outside runner while Broughton is a contested ball winner and a clearance machine. But that's your opinion so that's fair enough.

ok...pendlebury, ball, beams ? how many clearance machines did freo have ?

Of those 3 I'd say only Ball is a natural contested ball winner/clearance player. No doubt Pendles and Beams can play that role as they showed this year, but it takes away from other aspects of their game. Beams obviously had a great season as did Pendles, but they played inside roles. Our outside passing game was shite most of the year and you could put that down to the fact that our best users were having to cover the loss of Ball.

He's a gun. And I'm glad that you guys don't think Roberton and broughton are worth one of your first round picks, I reckon broughton alone is worth one of your first round picks.
He is tough, good user of the ball and is versatile. He plays equally well in the middle as he does back pocket/ hbf.
Someone on our board noted the other day that he was played up forward this yr as he was nursing a hand injury and the chances of worsening it were less playing up forward.
Heard these trade murmurs for a while now so I'm suspicious. Would be sad to see him go but if a draft pick between 12-20 were offered, I'd approve

Broughton would be a great get.

He can play in the midfield in bursts and is a handy defender. Hard at it, a neat kick and good decision maker.

Seemed to be played out of position by Lyon and could probably get him for unders if Ross doesn't rate him.

Would take him in a heartbeat... I've loved him from his first game.*

*Actually pretty sure I put a thread up on the Freo board about him after his first game.

i think broughton could be a good risk pick up and maybe take over johno's back-falnk and mid role and give us some hardness back in the team and could rotate with ball. broughton and williams to maori bulls running around for the pies doesnt sound to bad but it wont happen

If we don't land Young I would love to get Broughton his hard as nails and we could use a bloke that has a crack

I would give pick 20 up for Broughton and Roberton would be a best 22 player and would still have two top 20 picks
