Was Schammer any worse than Suban is now?

Polak and Murphy weren't great, but still had reasonable careers. As talls have a low success rate of coming good, I wouldn't rate it as demonstrably bad drafting. Not any worse than Hawthorn with Thorp & Dowler.

Has Suban ever kicked a behind for Adelaide?

All in all, Broughts was played out of position and told he wasn't best 22.
Confusing when I would put him in our top 10, looks like he is our Luke Ball ;(
interesting to see who the defensive forward position is used to assassinate next

I take it you would have used a sarcasm smilie if it was available.

Channel Eagle just ran a story on Broughton. He said that the club told him that he would be playing mainly in the WAFL as Sheridan and Crozier would be ahead of him. He was very gracious about the whole thing - thanked the club for giving him the opportunity and the fans for supporting him. Seemed very philosophical about it all.

I don't get why people think he was being played out of position as if he was playing well? He played himself out of position and as I have said was lucky not to have been dropped before finding a small role up forward. His injury was almost a blessing in disguise as it allowed Walters to cement himself in the forward line.

What a prick.

Said by Shane on DL:

What were the horrendous drafting decisions we were legendary for? Pav? Hasleby? Longmuir?

The bloke who picked them, and Ballantyne, Fyfe and Hill, was moved on by Bond for the bloke who picked Pitt.
Ah yes Shane. The font of all knowledge and heaven help you should you state a position that is in any way opposite otherwise he and his disciples shall have you lashed with forty posts and ..........................................................................................................................

SORRY - REMAINDER OF THIS POST DELETED FOR BENEFIT OF SHANE'S EGO!

No it's not the same at all.

Sheridan played WAFL and one game of AFL where he contributed not much.
Morabito played a whole season of good, not great, footy including a final where he kicked a fine goal.
After two knee reconstructions he may come back and be Sean McManus. Who knows?

Sheridan may turn out to be Peter Matera, but at the moment you've got some games for the worst team in the WAFL to base it on.

Lach, Morra had a decent first season I think people need to look past his draft pick and see the potential if he gets back on the field proper.

Got the impression that he didn't really want to leave but accepted that if he wanted to play regular football it wasn't going to be at Fremantle

Sheridan brownlow 2012 - bookmark it!

The last couple of pages of this thread are insightful but really confusing as to which posters have what position.

Personally I don't think freo have drafted that badly over the last few years. Early years wasted a lot of low picks of course.

What's changing is the ability to get young kids to realise they can't just get by on what talent they have, they have to put in elite effort too.

KPR is arguing Sheridan is the best thing Peel has ever had, while saying Its too early to judge the other two.
On available evidence how can you argue that?

Come on man, I'm regurgitating what I was told by an official and that, on top of what I have seen during his performances for peel and at training, is what I'm basing my excitement on.... Were you and did you expect more of Stephen hill than you did say someone like bollenhagen? Same situation

yeah, sounds like he was in line behind MJ, Duffman and Spurr for the HB position, and is behind Ballas, Walters and Crozier for the HF position. Our midfield spots are getting pretty congested, and he'd be behind Fyfe, Hill, Mundy, Neale, Barlow, Crowley, Pearce * 2.

Was always going to struggle to get games unless we lose 2 or 3 in the same position to injuries (or he grows another 20 cm taller over the summer).

A few people in here owe ross an apology. So he was in fact not running GB out of town, but doing him a favor for the rest of his career.

Would have preferred he did Ibbotson a favour instead of Broughton.

Commentator on sport fm said he spoke to a few guys from melbourne who said 'if you don't fit into Ross's plans you don't fit in to Ross's plans'. End of story really, better get used to it.

I think we were banking on free agency, to lure a key forward. Tried to get Mitch Clark, Jack Anthony recruited, the problem is we have
avoided using a top 30 pick on a Tall.
Broughton trade looked desperate in the end, You would think the penny has dropped, we need to develop our own using the draft.
Broughton should of been sorted before trade period started, another pick in the top 40 is welcome, we will need, because Freo will
still contemplate mids, flankers with our picks.

Yeah I think we chose to fix the midfield first and hoped we would jag a tall. Didn't work out that way so plan B is needed.

tough being a recruiter ...
you take a risk and it pays off its a fluke
you take a risk and it fails your crap
You play it safe and it works and your an average recruiter
you play it safe and it fails you need 2 grow some balls

Who'd want dat job...
