why is this? is it because of the 12/10 rule? could this mean they will be playing ressies? anyone have any idea because i was going to come but now not so sure??

Brown not named because it's only a 5 day break to the Richmond game against Melbourne and they want him to play in that one.

Simmonds, well he's probably not recovered yet (remember the golden rule: double any timeframe that the RFC put on an injury and that's when you'll see the player back [unless it's Richo])

By the way we only have 11 RFC players named so it's not the 12/10 rule stopping either playing.

F%$#.

This could be bad :mad::thumbsd:.

Browny spent most of the last quarter on his back with ice on his leg above his head. Now that he's not even named I'm getting nervous.

He is nowhere near fit enough to come back to the AFL without more gametime at Coburg, if he comes back next week don't expect him to do anything except a bit better job than Danny Meyer :(

Why would they announce he is playing for Coburg and then pull him out now? Either he pulled up feeling awesome and is 100% fit or he has full blown stress fractures and is out for the year.

Yep I don't buy the spin either benny.

The week leading up to round 1 is still too fresh in the memory.
I'll hope for the best but if Brown's down, he is finished.

I really don't buy the "gotta give him a chance against Melbourne" what BS.

They KNEW there was a 5 day turnaround and said he would play. Now he is not playing. This wasn't planned. Why would you stunt his fitness development (match time) just to give him a "chance" to play?

We know damn well there is absolutely no rush to get him back.

Even the most optimistic would have to have thoughts of bad news running through their minds. Please let nothing else have gone wrong.

Interesting to see that Tivendale was named, would this mean he wont play for Richmond, does it mean that he is just getting a game under his belt as he missed last week due to Family Issues, or has he been given the flick for good.

Tivendale will play seniors again, and with Brown spending the last quarter totally iced up on a cold day I am with everyone else - TROUBLE.

The ice could be part of the rehab program. Kinda like a preventative measure to keep the limb from any potential swelling.

Who knows what the hell is the situation with brown. It's anyone's guess.

if they decide to rush browny back for the melbourne game, i will spew

NO WAY is brown 100% ready for afl footy! he needs at least a month at coburg - play it ####ing safe with him! this season is stuffed , so lead him into fitness for 2008!

this means two things for me - 1) that wallace is AGAIN putting himself and his ego before the LONG TERM security of the team, as the fear of going 0-21-1 continues to grow for his ego

2) that browny has had another hiccup, and ala nathan buckley - and we could be back to where we were a 6 weeks ago with him

either one sucks balls to me:o

He was blowing really hard against sandringham. He's no where near fit enough for AFL.

Does anyone else think that perhaps some of Browny's problems are more psychological than physical, as in getting over the mental hurdles of his injury, not wanting to go through it again?

I fully understand that Newman's break last year was not as bad, but he's come back without any issues. Michael Voss' break a few years ago was as bad, if not worse than Browny's and he came back much quicker. To be out for so long with a hot-spot just seems a little bizarre given that some other players come back from actual stress fractures quicker than this.

Not saying this is the case, nor am I bagging Browny, I'm just throwing it out there.

I agree with you Magic17, if he's down, he is finished. His career would be just about done.

100% agree.

His fitness is still restricting him from being his best too.

He didn't seem to be avoiding contests at Coburg, he went in harder than I ever remembered him actually and looked to be moving freely imo. I'd say he just keeps pulling up sore. We all know they F#$%ed up the surgery and the first-time idiot put in the wrong sized rod. If they had've sent him to a trauma ward apparently he would have come back as fast as Michael Voss but the whispers are that the surgery #### up could be for life.

Before Round 1 we had a couple of different posters claim they have heard he will not be playing a game in 2007 (this was before they dropped him against Carlton) and it is looking pretty accurate now.

If he was actually going to play against the Dees then why would they make a statement with a "but he doesn't have to play in the end" clause. They have already said he might not play and to actually say he might not play is a strong enough sign.. this is doing my head in!

Cmon Browny just play Coburg for a month or even two if you need the fitness - then you can play finals with Riewoldt etc and be fit for 2008-2011!!

wtf???? :eek::eek::eek:

this is the first Ive heard of this!

this is beyond a joke.. Iv just about had it with the RFC and our constant show of gross incompetence and total lack ofprofessionalism in everything right across the board. This is unforgivable

I prefer to look at it like this, Brown plays at Coburg to gain fitness which is what most of us are wanting, but the Tigers season is gone so no point bringing him back for say the final 5-6 weeks. May as well play him at Richmond and use him in bursts to get his fitness level up. After all there is nothing he can gain by playing at Coburg thay he con't gain by playing for Richmond. Fair enough if we were fighting for a finals berth it would be great to have Brown get to full fitness at Coburg and comeback for a finals push.

Remember last week Browny was pushing Wallace to take him over to play against Freo, Brown himself would know how fit he was and again if he feels he is fit enough to play 15 minutes a quarter then really what do we have to lose. I know we don't talk about what is said on "Eye of the Tiger" but I thought McRae's comment about Brown was honest enough:

Played his second consecutive game on the comeback trail from his leg injury. He played the majority of three quarters, gaining 12 possessions, with six of those coming in a lively third-quarter display. Finished with two quality goals and looks ready now for a return to AFL level.

I have no reason to doubt what McRea said is accurate as I don't recall him ever throwing out spin like some of the others do.

maybe so, but jeez, its a huge risk considering our pointless position on the table - i personally would have felt more comfortable with him having a very gradual climb through coburg - before putting him in the side -for what many believe - is the most physically draining and high impact sport NOT to use protection armour - in the world.

What crap, we don't know that at all, there is just one BigFooty poster that has said that and has got people to bite, it's speculation nothing more. Brown's break was much worst than Voss' who's was pretty much a clean break like Newmans. Brown had all the ligaments and tendons in his leg damaged by what was almost a compound fracture, he's lucky he's not like Snell.

Snell did his ankle btw not leg, and posters on PRE and YnB both said the same things, take it however you like I don't believe anything 100% either but it's out there that's all. Browny himself has said he heard whispers around the club that things were much worse than expected and he felt like they were hiding it.

If he plays AFL then he will try harder and push his leg harder than usual. 15 minutes at AFL level is NOT the same as 15 minutes for Coburg.

The gain might be the same fitness wise. But what would he lose?

First of all there is greater risk of pulling up sore. Secondly he will be a shadow of himself which will make fans sad. If he comes back, plays 3 quarters, gets 10 possies and one goal... well it wouldn't exactly be promising would it?

I would prefer he dominates for Coburg then on his first AFL match back he makes a statement to the footy world - the Browny of old is BACK!
