Ancient Tiger
Can you summarise Warwick Hadfields role in this saga.
I'm a bit Tired of him twisting the facts at every opportunity on RN Breakfast and Fran Kelly not challenging him or asking him to declare his interest.
Was he talking about Thymomodulin again? He's done that a few times.

Martin Hardie and Bruce Francis had a falling out over who gets to author 'the book'

As part of that spat they revealed they had been in contact, Francis stated that Hardie had been his house guest.

Francis stated that he had no connection to the matter, he had been approached by a friend to look into it

I speculated that with Hardie and Hadfield working together at Deakin, with Hadfield and Francis knowing each from South African rebel tour era cricket, and Hadfield knowing James Hird (Hird's first appearance post ban was at Hadfield's cricket club) ... that Hadfield was the common link. I then found that Hadfield had written a review of Francis' fathers unpublished biography on Francis' website.

When AT posted that logic over at the site where Francis is posting, Francis confirmed it. That Hadfield had acted for 'a friend of his' and put Francis onto the case. He then went on to accuse AT of being a Fairfax plant and eventually being Caro herself.

Nothing in the above is anything other that simple Google sleuthing. All the confirmations have entirely come from Francis (and Hardie's tweeting).

But yes, ABC normally holds itself to higher standards of declarations of interest, and Hadfield should at some point have had this question put to him. Either on or off air.

Perhaps an email to Ms Kelly detailing Hadfield's relationships is in order and his enlistment of Brucie to agitate. Albert has summarised it rather well below. A few colourful terms for Bruce mightn't go astray either - stooge is one that springs to mind....

I heard the 'spat' was over who got the red and black crayons!

It is a dubious form of journalism. Effectively enlist someone to create controversy that in turn lets a journalist address the controversy.

A big theme on this forum, from Bomber's supporters, is quite reasonably "why don't the media just shut up about this and let it play out?". Well we effectively have one journo keeping the pot boiling, and then giving us progress reports on whether or not is about to boil over.

There is a fine line between investigative journalism and manufacturing stories I suspect.

Yet here you are, sharing yours on the internet. If you didn't value what you have to say, you wouldn't be. Just sayin' ;)

The comment was that he rates his opinion "very highly" with and additional comment "don't we all"

No. I don't. I may HAVE an opinion but at no stage do I "rate it highly".

But thanks for apparently valuing my opinion more than I do myself. Very much appreciated! :D:thumbsu:
