1995. It was 20 years ago now, and since then, Bruce has released seven studio albums, along with a few greatest hits albums etc and Live from NYC. What do people think is the best song that has been released in that period and why do you believe so? Not necessarily your favourite, but the best one is more of what I am seeking here. (I am not so big on D&D and Seeger Sessions admittedly so if there are glaring omissions - [obviously] feel free to add yours).

Here's a few more.

'How Can a Man Stand Such Times and Live?' (Seeger Sessions is grand. Easily his best album post-Tunnel of Love)

'Paradise' from The Rising.

Not too much of a Devils & Dust fan, but 'The Hitter' is a stone-cold knockout. Better than anything on TGOTJ.

But you can't go past 'My City of Ruins'.

Have probably missed another dozen or so :)

So this is happening:

Just shut up and take my money, Bruce.

Back when shows like the Tower release were a pipedream, you got into the trading of concerts because the real thing wasn't available, and wasn't likely to be. You never made money off these things, and you hoarded the shows because they were so great.

But you did so because you knew that if they were ever released you'd be first in line to buy them.

Springsteen's been notoriously anti-bootleg for years, but he's tolerated them because he knows how passionate his fan base is. Don't think these releases are a ploy for cash, because he doesn't need it. These releases are for the diehards like us, not casual fans and if we want to hear them, it's our obligation to pay money for them.

Sure, you sharing them won't stop the downloads, but enough people doing so might. And once the downloads slow, what's to say Bruce won't decide to say "f**k them" and close the vault doors?

Just my 2 cents.

Oh get off your high horse. Don't act like you've never done anything immoral in your life before.

The offer is there for those that want it. And I am sure me sharing this with a few people on a forum is hardly going to stop the downloads. :$
"Don't act like you've never done anything immoral in your life before."

Possibly the dumbest argument I've ever seen. It's $10. Pay the money. Support Springsteen. Keep the downloads coming.

There are that many fans there is no way it will slow. I know several people who take it in turns to download one show each and then share it etc.

I don't need to pay it, I have both the FLAC and mp3.

Ah, so you have done immoral things. I thought as much.

Anybody else got the BTR Boxset? Have the Hammersmith Odeon show on for the first time in a long time and by golly is it good.

Love Shuffle from that show, slowed down and 14 minutes of brilliance. Fantastic.

Cracking 'She's the One' as well, and the guitar duelling on 'It's Hard to Be a Saint in the City' is insanely sweet.

So the next live cab off the rank is another of the all-time greats:

bs801231_01.jpg

The '4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)' was previously released on the Live 1975-85 box set (and ranks in his top 5 live performances of any song, ever), the 'Merry Christmas Baby has appeared on a number of Christmas albums, 'Rendezvous' showed up on Tracks, and 'Held Up Without a Gun' (River outtake) got a gig on the Essential Bruce Springsteen.

Now we get the rest of the gig - awesome.

Honestly never thought this would get released - Bruce fluffs some 'Jungleland' lyrics, and being a perfectionist I didn't think he'd let it get out. But it's obvious by the songs he's released already from the show that he thinks highly of it. And so he should. 38 songs, four hours (was his longest show for decades), the band in top nick.

Go buy it, for $US10 it's an absolute steal.

Well done! I am going to do something like that one day.

But first I have to do something like that with my 32 tickets and 3 posters from the Sydney Olympics. You dont want to rush these things. I have been thinking of doing this since late 2001. September this year on the 15th anniversary might be the right time.
