What ever happened to him?
I saw a few games played by him, where he kicked a bag of goals, 5 goals.
He seemed to be a damaging player in his time but he never got a run with the Crows, and he stopped playing Footy when he was 25-26 years old.

What is he doing now?

Mate, I don't think anyone really cares.

Perhaps he's had his sideburns cut off to be used in stuffing mattresses. ;)

Not recruited by PAFC from the PAMFC to the dismay of some Port supporters. Subsequent AFL career at the Crows showed Port's decision was the correct one. Really good SANFL player but not quite big enough at AFL level for a KPP.

steve was my year 3 footy coach along with john paynter and tony giles :thumbsu:.

i guess thats why im such a gun. my skills will hopefully be on display against PAPS next month, if we get a team.

Few cm too short for Key forward at AFL level and not quick enough really to hold down a flank regularly. Too inconsistent at both AFL and SANFL level. Top notch contested mark though.

???? what is the KPP nonsense, he was a flanker. and he when he was fit, he did just fine for us.

as for inconsistent at SANFL level is your memory playing tricks on you?

As a flanker he wasn't quick enough or mobile enough to really stamp his authority at AFL level and he will be the first one to say that.

Great contested mark though. In his last year with us (I think it was 2002 season) he had more contested marks than he did uncontested. Thumping accurate kick too.

He was hardly injury prone. He had a few, but not the amount you are eluding to. In 1999 he played 20 games of football, In 2000 he played 18 games, In 2001 he played 21 games and in 2002 he played 17 games.

He made his mark as a Centre Half Forward at SANFL level. He played an inside Centre Half Forwards game but didnt have the height for it at AFL level. As Stiffy says, he wasnt mobile or quick enough for a 185cm flanker. He averaged 7 disposals, 2.9 marks and 1.1 goal a game at AFL level. Hardly great statistics really...look through his game by game stats and tell me they are consistent.

He was inconsistent at SANFL level. Many times at SANFL level he would burn for 10-15 minutes and barely get a kick for a few quarters. Im more than willing to back my opinion against yours on this. He was a favourite of mine and his 1998 finals series remains one of the best individual finals series ive seen at SANFL level (I believe he equally holds the record for most goals in an SANFL finals series) but he was bloody frustrating at times.

On his day he was a great player, a strong mark (one of the best of his height i have seen), a physical presence and a big kick. He was also stuck in the wrong body for his game style, not mobile enough, not quick enough and didnt do the one percenters overly well. His best was very good.

You sure you're thinking of the right team Stiffy? He kicked one goal in two games against the Blues in official matches. He kicked 5 against Collingwood one day.

injuries never allowed him to string games together in his AFL career.
he was a classic late bloomer.

he "earnt" you goals, and forwards like that are hard to come by.

strong hands, great kick, these are not attributes of someone "not good enough".

It might have been a PS game but I am pretty sure it was Silvagni that he kicked a bag on

Beinke often looked out of his depth at AFL level.

Always showed a lot of talent as a defender though.

In his 4 years on an AFL list, he played 38 AFL games and 38 SANFL games. Injurys may have apparently not allowed him to string games together, but it shows he wasnt exactly rushed back in when fit either.

Youve mentioned his two best attributes...very good ones at that. But he was too slow, not mobile enough and not tall enough for his type of game for the position he had to play at AFL level.

there's probably some truth to that.

this is where I disagree, I think he could've done very well in our current setup. your speed matters less if the play is not being pumped through you. out wide, on a less strong opponent, contested marking is king.

You seem to be unable to bring yourself to just say that you are wrong, injuries didnt finish him at all like you initally said.

Injuries did finish his AFL career. His body couldn't handle the rigours of another AFL preseason and season.
