i myself have been rather critical of bryce Gibbs over the past 2 seasons, rather because i had such large expectations of this kid to perform, which i felt he hadnt quite reached in his first two years.

I give out criticism strongly, and give out credit aswell, all where i see it due.

So after all of my criticism of Bryce Gibbs, i am posting this thread to say Well done Bryce, fantastic start to 2009, his performance against brisbane was fantastic.

He looks set to become a star of the game for the next 10 years.

I think we have found the new michael voss and nathan buckley for the next decade of football in joel Selwood and Bryce Gibbs, which is going to be a blessing to watch for all spectators.

I see a bit more Hird in Bryce. The composure, the cool head, the damaging use of the ball, the way he makes time slow down Matrix-style in heavy traffic etc.

GIBBS>>>>>All of the named in this thread.

Don't be silly.

The fact that it's not wildly offensive to mention Gibbs in the same breath as Hird, Buckley and Voss is a great testament to how well Gibbs' career has started - but let's not get ahead of ourselves an insult three true champions of the game. Gibbs has not achieved a fraction of what any of those three have, and I believe we should keep a lid on it til he does.

I love Gibbs. I think he has the potential to have a career, maybe one that matches any of those three. Maybe even one that surpasses them! But that will take another 12 years, and a lot to go right on the way.

Take it easy, peeps. :thumbsu:

And GO Gibbsy, you gun!

Pretty much how I see Bryce as well. Has that James Hird ability to get through traffic almost always make the right decision with his disposal. Don't underestimate how good that goal was on Saturday night. The mark, and then thinking quickly enough to take another couple of steps to calmly slot it right through the middle.

When I opened this thread I thought.....why is GC26 on my ignore list?

Then a few posts in we get the "but Selwood did X, Y, Z" in his second year......blah blah blah.

If Gibbs was at Geelong it would be reversed.

I'm quite happy that we have shielded Gibbs from the big headed stuff (not that I think he is that way inclined) but seeinf Selwood on the Sunday footy show (or gameday....whichever), he seems to have a very healthy opinion of himself.

He was quiet becaue he actually had an opponent last week for the first time, hence Murphy > Selwood, playing with and beating taggers in his second season...........Gibbs beyond this equation.

JS plays a bit like Voss........talks like Bucks.;)

I brought up Joel Selwood in reponse to a carlton supporters post in the thread, to be honest i cant see why mentioning Joel is anything bad anyway? both Joel and Gibbs are top young players from the same draft.

I can not see why offence is being taken by Selwoods name being brought up.

Is getting plenty of it now in the guts and is getting clearances which are vital, probably just needs a bit more experience in the middle to fine tune his decision making. It's good but can and will get better. Has been in a few situations where he's had it running towards goal and probably could have just kept running and maybe baulked one player then waltzed into goal, but he's freaked out a tad instead. In time he will get even more composure and make more of these chances. Sort of thing Judd would eat up.

He is rated extremely high by carlton fans, but alot of outside supporters are not sold on him, i for one wasnt, but i now believe he is quite a tallent.

Er, that's important to who again?
