This young tennis player has been on the end of some pretty harsh criticism, particularly from his fellow Australian supporters. He has been labelled 'arrogant' and 'over confident' on these boards lately as well, but I think it's time a few people should take their rose coloured glasses off and give the kid some credit.

Is up against Wawrinka at the moment, the 15th seed, and boy has Bryden put up a fight to this point. Lost the first two sets 6-3, 6-4 and is 3-2 up in the third set. Has served three aces so far in this match, has impressed in various patches throughout the match and overall in this tournament. With some more experience and some natural improvement, he could feature heavily in Grand Slams in years to come.

Wawrinka barely looked out of 2nd gear to be honest, Klein didn't embarrass himself, but Wawrinka basically cruised through that.

To lose 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 is a top effort against a 15th seed. Whether Wawrinka was in second gear or not, to get that many games off him and to send so many games to duece (40-40), is an honorable loss.

Not one positive comment yet, exactly what I suspected. Criticising our young Aussie tennis players to the max but when something goes right and clicks in the near future, everyone will jump onboard. You watch.

these appreciation threads really need to be used much less

Well seems as though them other appreciation threads were made for near pointless reasons, besides Hewitt's thread, I thought I'd make one for a good cause. I knew I'd get knocked in this thread, positive criticism really is rare on this board.

I thought my didn't embarrass himself comment was nice enough? lol

It's just hard to get excited over a tennis player who hasn't done shit yet, seriously.

agreed, he'll get praised when he deserves it, right now he hasnt done jack shit

So you're not excited by Tomic's prospects either?

Tennis is not just about four players in Grand Slams, and to me when Aussie players play well in a Grand Slam, it gives the younger generation of players in this country a sense of hope and someone to look up to.

It's not a 'top' effort, it was good for a mediocre player. But he was comprehensively beaten.

I don't think everybody agrees with your 'love every Aussie' stance. Certainly doesn't deserve any 'appreciation' yet.

Where was Tomic mentioned in here? I don't see Aaron or myself giving any shit to Tomic in here? so why put words in our mouths? we were commenting on Klein and that is all, he looks average, nothing to get all excited about.

Tomic >>>>>> Klein.

I didn't put any words in your mouths at all. I think you need to read my post again.

What I was saying was, I'll say it in a more simpler fashion; Tomic must not deserve any praise then going by your logic, because he has done jack shit as well to date.

You must not take much notice of my posts then Vulture. If you don't have good knowledge about a statement, it's probably best to put it back under the carpet. I said in the Guccione thread that Simon will kick his bottom, I'm a realist and take every player on his/her merits.

He looks like he has a better game than Klein, but yeh he hasn't done a thing either. Can see why people are excited over Tomic, but Klein? I doubt it, looks like a challenger circuit player, if that.

I think we are stretching to find our next superstar of Tennis, media especially. I am more into just watching the tennis, than super eager to see an Aussie win. Sure it's nice, but I'd rather get excited over a quality match, then watch Wawrinka cruise past some kid, Just my opinion.

But you are still a 'fan of his', that's my point, not whether you think he is gonna win or lose. Did you think Klein was going to win today!? Haha, you have been pushing your patriotic agenda for the past couple of days, this thread is the perfect example.

I wasn't suggesting that he'll become a superstar. I also think he has no chance of reaching them heights. (Top 20 say) But I definitely think he'll be a good honest player for our country, which is what people don't seem to understand.

Geez, ain't I a patriotic person giving Australia's young kids some positive criticism? I've given some negative criticism on Tomic and Guccione if you bother to read them threads properly too, which I do with all tennis players, so you may need to look a little harder to back up your findings.

Well GS, I know you've played a bit of tennis in your time, and at a pretty good level, so if you see something in the boy, well i'm listening.

He's got one thing I like, and that's a bit of spunk. You can work on your game over time, but passion for the contest is something that is not easy to develop if you don't have it naturally.
