very interesting to see the bombers people gloating about yesterday's game.

I guess if they really truly believe that that performance is worth bragging about then it is a fairly sobering indicator of just how far Essendon really have slipped this year.

Great come back and congratulations for seeing out the final minutes much stronger than we did (in truth we fell apart after 3/4 time) but there is no way I would take comfort from that little effort if I was a Bombers fan.

The awesome football machine that was Essendon of the last two years is now but a fond memory for you people.

Enjoy more of the same for the rest of the season.

Oh yeah, and keep thinking you're a 'power team' - its hilarious

and BTW - Your home ground surface is an absolute disgrace and I understand the Essendon players are forbidden to discuss the issue with the media.

If power means premiers..yes
If power means better than Sydney...yes
If power means more membership in a city that has 10 teams to one ...yes
If power means 16 premierships to your (I won't depress you)...yes
If power means we beat you again...yes
If power means we do it on our own and pay our way ...yes
If power...

Laugh all you like Library Boy because deep down we know you wish the Swannies were half like us.

As Eade says "we now model ourselves on Essendon."

If power means we do it on our own and pay our way ...yes

Is that suppose to be some kind of joke? If you are trying to say Sydney doesn't pay their own way, you are sadly mistaken.

Sydney hasn't received a payment from the AFL since '99'.
And even then, they have payed back all that was owed to the AFL.

So don't give me that crap.

Sydney have more corporate sponsorship then you, and only second to West Coast.

So, even know we have to travel interstate half of the year, we still pay our way, and our finances probably look as good, if not better than yours. (all things considered)

Like I said keep it up - its very very funny

cheers

Thank you. I find Sydney funny too, so we can agree on something.

As for personal abuse, come on if Library Boy is the worst you have come across you don't get out often enough.

Your arrogance has gone to your head I see?
You can't read?

Should be expected!
Sydney don't need the AFL's money mate ..
In fact I would nearly go out and say they would be nearly the most financially stable club in the competition ...
but hey .. thats my opinion ..

You actually think your're performance yesterday was something to brag about ??????

hmmmmmm

No gloating or bragging here, just pleased to see our boys keep plugging away when things weren't going right for us....which....to my way of thinking, shows character. We KNOW we can....and in future....will need to....play a hell of a lot better, than we did yesterday. Maybe you should be looking at it from your side of the fence, beaten by a team with 9 senior players missing...playing as 'badly' as we were...after leading for all but 30 odd seconds of the match.

What does that say about Sydney?

hmmmmmmm

where's wally?

BTW BSA you know what would have been reaalllyyy funny?

The look on your face the last 30 seconds of yesterday's match. hmmmmmmmmmm

You're kidding, right?

<Groans> If you say so, if you say so.

Actually, BSA, you sound a little like a sore loser?

I don't agree with BSA unforuntately here...

I am a Swannies support also .. but I dont think Essendons dominance is completely over.

I think they are going to fall back with the other teams ..BUT .. will still be a force, and right up there with the teams....

They have a young list (the name the baby bombers doesn't mean nothing)...

They have a lot of talented young players...
I think the underlying problem that Essendon will face at the end of this year and the next, is fitting all these 'talented' players under the salary cap.
That will be the only reason Essendon wont be as 'dominating'...

Im not sure why they are going through a form slump now, but im sure come finals time they'll be ready to fire ...

They'll be up there for years to come .. thats for sure .. (as much as I hate to admit it!!)

Bloody oath.

Now, you know what its like to come up against a great CLUB (as opposed to a great team)

We are the greatest BSA, and you found that out that hard way today.

No you are not

Crows are

2 from 11 - better ratio than you boys

By the way - we have the most members so your stat below your signature about supporters means nothing.

That was the most bull**** survey of all time too. Eddie was right for a change.

This year Essendon are vulnerable

Last year they were not

Big difference

So their Power has certainly slipped

They are obviously still deserved favourites for the Flag but they are nowhere near as dominant as last year

Injuries may have a lot to do with this but every team gests injuries in most years and obviously Essendon cover them quite well as they are still well on top.

BUT they are vulnerable.

Makes for more interesting footy anyway

I hope they beat Collingwood this week as we want their spot in the Eight.

I agree wholeheartedly.

It seems many people are mistaking the word "vulnerable" for the word "gone".

Essendon's last 5 matches have yielded three close wins and two close losses. That's not dominant by any means, even though I still think they are the best team in the competition and deserve to remain flag favourites.

That's an interesting comment BSA, given that we are sitting a game clear on top of the ladder......again. Yes, we have slipped so far, how will we ever recover from the ignomy of an 18-4 season.

For us to play poorly against a very capable side, without Hird, Barnes, Lloyd, Blumfield, Riloi, M.Johnson, Soloman, yet still win, wasa great efoort. Yes, we weren't great, but this was a victory for persistence and hard work, and you won't win a flags wthout either of those two qualities.

In the next two weeks we will regain our best players. Remember this seasosn we have had a 65 point win over Hawthorn, a 78 point win over the Bulldogs, a 47 point win in the wet against Sydney, and 86 point win over the Kangaroos, an 88 point win over West Coast, a 46 point won over Richmond, a 36 point win over Port and a 50 point win over Adelaide.

At our BEST ths year, we have ben just as good as last year, but obviously, we wouldn't be able to repeat a 21-1 season. We have the same ability as last year. the only difference is that last year, that ability addd up to 21-1. This year, that same ability will add up to 18-4, or at worst 17-5.

Your club, since 1897, has never won 17 games in a home and awya season before, and here you are telling us we've slipped. Um...yeah....whatever.

It was pretty hilarious beating you by 2 points after you led for all but three seconds of the match. And yes, I consider a team that is on top of the ladder by game with a percentage of 135 a power team. Gee, I must be delusional, to think that an 18-4 team is a power team. How silly of me.

]

Dan, while Essendon are 15-4 after 19 rounds, and will start favourite for (and most likely win) its last three games, is it not a little presumptuous to already claim they are an 18-4 team?

What does Sydney's record have to do with comparing Essendon's 2000 season to its 2001 season?

Last year Essendon won 24 of 25 matches, most by fairly big margins. It's narrowest winning margin was 13 points and it suffered one loss. Season's percentage was 159.1 and it had statistically the best defence and the best forward line for the season.

This season, after 19 matches, Essendon has lost four matches and has had a few more close calls (four matches won by 2 goals or less) and two teams have had statistically better defences over the first 19 rounds.

Yes, Essendon have slipped from their 2000 form.

They are still the best team in the competition, but they HAVE slipped. And even if Sydney have never won 17 H&A games in a season, it doesn't preclude Sydney's or other teams supporters from stating that Essendon have not been as good in 2001 as they were in 2000. It's an opinion shared by many.

The stats also appear to back it up... you like your stats don't you, Dan? Or is that just when you put YOUR spin on them?

Whilst I would agree that we're not playing as well as last season, do the stats indicate that we are no longer a "power team"? :D :D

That's not what I'm arguing against - the term "power team" is mostly subjective, as is the term "dominate".

Jesus, it's hard to argue against Essendon supporters who don't use irrelevant stats. I think some new training drills are in order. Go the man maybe? :D

Spot on. Actually most of what BSA said was accurate which is what makes him such a good troll. He says stuff that gets everyone nodding their head and then dangles out the outrageous stuff.

ROFLMAO!!! You'll just have to work a little harder then eh? :D

LOL! You boys did that pretty well in the GCG thread so I guess I'd better look out!
