Anyone listen to this guy? Extremely talented being able to play a ridiculous amount of different instruments. I can always put on one of his tracks and immediately feel at ease and relaxed.

Any other Buckethead fans out there?

Don't know if i'm a fan really, but he's a great guitarist, a bloody whack job though. He recorded on Chinese Democracy, and insisted on playing in a man size cage, with dog poo in it and hardcore pr0n on the tv in the studio. This is not made up.

Check out this footage from his backyard sessions, some recordings he made when he was younger in his backyard (funnily enough!)

The dude is called buckethead, and after all does wear a bucket on his head. He was never going to be sane. Anyone who wears props/masks as a musician as part of their act ala Slipknot, Buckethead, Kiss can all be classified as crazies...
Funnily enough, the crazier they are, the better and more talented they are.

Kiss and Slipknot (Don't know much about them) have talent?

Kiss and Slipknot (Don't know much about them) have talent?

TBH, I don't have a single song from either, and I don't think of them as talented. I'm a hip hop head myself, though appreciate what Buckethead can do.

I never said the two were talented, though as a general rule I stated usually the crazier they are the more talented, ala Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, etc...

Buckethead once went into a studio recording session, sat down and stared at the wall for an hour before recording about 2 minutes of a solo and then walked out.

The guy is insane, crazy talented but insane.

But on the flipside he once recorded an entire album of acoustic and chill out guitar work for his dying mother to listen to in the hospital. His record company convinced him it was awesome work and they wanted to release it as an album. Thus Colma was born.

He is an enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in a KFC bucket.

Amazing, I had no idea that was how it was created. Agree with most sentiments in here, the guy is completely mad but extremely talented.

Anyone who chooses to wear a chicken bucket as a hat is never going to be sane. I find his music to be a bit hit & miss, but there are some gems amongst his 28(!) albums. I really liked the Buckethead & Friends album, particularly the track with Serj Tankian "We Are One".

He is ****ing nuts on the guitar man. I've only heard bits and pieces of him though.

Always thought he was a bit weird though. But check out this quote from Ozzy about him:

"I tried out that Buckethead guy. I met with him and asked him to work with me, but only if he got rid of the ****ing bucket. So I came back a bit later, and he's wearing this green ****ing Martian's-hat thing! I said, 'Look, just be yourself.' He told me his name was Brian, so I said that's what I'd call him. He says, 'No one calls me Brian except my mother.' So I said, 'Pretend I'm your mum then!' I haven't even got out of the room and I'm already playing ****ing mind games with the guy. What happens if one day he's gone and there's a note saying, 'I've been beamed up'? Don't get me wrong, he's a great player. He plays like a mother****er."

:D

Never listened to him before.

I went and listened to Colma based on the recommendation in this thread ... guitar good but what the **** was the thinking behind the drums. The drums completely spoil it for me.

Listening to some of his other stuff now.
