Like I said when Wright arrived, he is an astute person and a smooth operator, he made the call, sorry JMac, that is why i answered your hypothetical question to me regarding Bucks, "will you support Bucks if Graham Wright reappoints him " I answered yes. I loved Bucks as a player, coach and more importantly. as a person of great integrity, sadly his time with us is over, he emptied his tank for Collingwood over and over , be it as a player, coach and ambassador of the game, all the best to what the journey ahead brings you Nathan .

Shattered. The absolute 🐐 Magpie for mine.

But, change is needed I guess. I don’t know where we were going to go to given we need to rebuild, if we had the right list then we could tolerate a down year given 3 finals runs in a row.

But we just don’t have the cattle anymore. We still rely heavily on players we picked up 15 years ago in the draft.

Have a look at the drafts from 2012 to 2019 added to the salary cap mismanagement, that for mine was the undoing of all this.

I'm going to put my tool box out tonight in honour of Daisy.

Like many I am excited to see the outcome of this but also very sad to see Bucks go. From a coaching point of view I think he has strong pros and cons but I don't doubt him as a person.

One memory that gives me insight into Bucks the person comes from the 125th celebration at Victoria Park. I had a great day with my son and he got to meet a few legends like Peter McKenna etc........we were interviewed as part of a feature on the old footy jumpers (never aired due to the sad passing of Louie shortly after).

On our way back to the train station my son spotted Bucks out the corner of his eye driving out of the carpark and ran towards him with his autograph book. I quickly grabbed him and pulled him away so that Bucks could leave the carpark without any bother. Bucks saw my boy , wound down his window and waved my son over and signed his autograph book after probably enduring a whole day of similar attention.
That's Bucks all over.

Also, some posters will get the shock of their life when the new coach doesn't bring instant success.

This x100.

The 2020 was the first draft in several years we’ve hit the mark, we are paying the price for 2012-19 drafts + contracts and trades.

This is an indirect result of us ******* up the salary cap. We would have a winning record right now with Stephenson and Treloar, and Bucks would still be coming off GF -> Prelim -> Semi.

Some would argue it’s the right move regardless, but it saddens me.
He really did get shafted by our list management screw up, closely followed by board tumult. Couldn't do much about those

I strongly suspect you are correct.

Do people really think the patch of events are all purely coincidental?

Wright comes to Collingwood and Bucks is gone5 months later, all with controversy at Hawthorn about Mitchell and Clarko coaching situation.

Wright has called Hawthorn and said "Decide who you want now because we're taking the one you dont pick"

Didnt realise it was Nathan Buckley Collingwood Football Club

Pretty shallow replica of a football club without the players and the coaches.

While its almost certainly the right decision I'm filled with incredible sadness. As a 90s kid, Nathan was my first footballing hero and I still have a small football that he signed for me in the lead up to the 2002 grand final.

I'll always remember the 2018 campaign that lasted all the way till grand final day. 2018 was a particularly challenging year for me in my personal life and watching the Pies on that journey gave me so much hope in an extremely dark time. Bucks was a huge part of that journey and for that I will always be grateful. It was the premiership that he so desperately deserved and it fills me with sorrow knowing he is unlikely to ever experience that success.

There will by time in the coming days and weeks to ponder the future and speculate on successors. For now though it is an opportunity to celebrate Nathan and his time at the helm.

Thanks Bucks, all the best.
