Well was posted on here(Don’t Know Where and Who) that said Butters left because he reckons Bucks puts the Players thru too much with the Training Sessions.

I have no Idea if True but it could Explain why we have so many Soft Tissue Injuries and that we can’t play 4 QTRS.

Is there something there or does it have nothing to do with it?

No, it's the new fitness guy. Background is triathlons. Bit different to AFL footy.
Butters left cause he misses his "FRIEND" MM

Ludicrous to think a senior coach also runs the fitness program.

His instruction would be, get the guys fit enough to run out 4 quarters.

It's up the the fitness guys how they go about that.

Hmmm I don't think we can even attempt to guess the reason our players look cooked after quarter time. Despite the best facilities in the league, we are way behind the competition in terms of injury prevention and fitness. Very alarming.

Totally agree. Bucks put it out in the public forum today and I think we should expect some changes in the off season.

Another thing to remember is there was no trip overseas to somewhere like Utah or Arizona this year... We spent our preseason slogging it out in the hot summer sun. Pretty monotonous and doesn't encourage team building. Most players probably just went home after training and put their feet up. Training camps are great because you eat and breathe fitness with a continual focus on team building, encouragement and individual excellence.

I can only hope we are in a loading phase (yes typical response when players look fatigued) but this might have been a strategy implemented around the bye for the purpose of having players peak leading into the latter stages of the season and the finals. It could explain the increased rates of soft tissue injuries and our lackluster spread on the weekend. Goldcoast schooled us on fitness, with the majority of the players in their 3rd and 4th seasons of AFL. I'm still embarrassed.

Don't be so sure. You sound like an Hirdite with that comment.

Haha. Yeah, I can understand that.

To rephrase, I'm positive Bucks knows what the medical guys and fitness guys are planning and carrying out, but the fitness program would be designd by them not Bucks.

Port slogged it out in sand dunes, they were made to do 100 x 100m last year in Burgos 1st year back then rumour has it he made them all do 200 x 200m this pre season (I call bs on that but hey apparently some port supporters witnessed it).

Port are getting old school training, just a lot of hard work running and in very hot conditions.

"We just think the heat offers a similar training environment to altitude, in that it stresses the body a lot further than what it would in normal conditions," Burgess told SEN radio on Tuesday morning.

"Therefore you can adapt to training physiologically better; also the mental benefits of training a lot in heat are pretty substantial.

"Physiologically, heat and altitude, it's probably reasonably similar. But my belief, and through my research, is that heat might just have the edge."

Burgess said the players made a strong commitment to completing their exhaustive training loads.

"We just trained them really hard and the boys got a really good combination of footy and running, team meetings and walk-throughs," he said.

"We probably trained the guys a little bit harder across the board and took a few more risks in-season," he said.

"Nothing dramatic, or anything like that, but we just really encouraged the guys to make every session count and their training loads were probably a little bit more than the average."

We have the altitude room, but apart from that, I can't imagine that we'd be much different to other clubs?
