Has Buddha ended any chances of coaching AFL at senior level? If I recall correctly, his coaching stint in WA was a disaster. He didn't win a premiership as coach of the Falcons, and now he is part of the Port Power coaching team that has failure written all over it.

Thoughts?

That game he coached for Peel Thunder where he put all 18 players behind the ball really set the scene, even though he only did it once it will be the most remembered thing he contributed to coaching.

Have to say 3rd and 4th hand info I've heard has not been that great for the way he handled some of the kids at the Falcons but at a footy club there is always somebody not happy, bout missing selection ,missing being on the list and being told to stuff they do not wont to do.

But sometimes ...If it looks like it and smells like it and its tastes like it then its probably ..it. The one thing at Peel could be put down to being a bit too negative at an under level , not winning a flag at Falcons , well he is not alone there and to a certain degree its all about getting the kids drafted , and coaching at Port when they are having a bad run ,well that could just be bad timing. But all together ... not good.

I'll check out what he was like as a coach at the Peel Thunder. I know someone who played for him in those days.

Thats a bit sad.....
Bit bizarre too, as in his book, Buddha gives a lot of credit to his brother, calls him a role model, stuff like that. Something really must have upset that family peace, although not as publicised as big Red at Carlton, and his brother . Wives. That's what caused the split between Macleod, Hewitt, Edwards. Have heard it's a similar story for Buddha.

Budda was a champion player and a champion of the club, but that doesnt necessarily translate to being a great coach of others.

Im sure that he has the ability and the ideas but like players, it doesn't always translate.

Go Catters!

PS - I hope it goes ok for him as I was a huge fan when he playing.....

I played under him at Peel. Certainly a strange cat. iMo he has borderline manic depression. Very up down. Often treading on egg shells around the all Australian midfielder (his description of himself often)

It's really a non issue cos as others have pointed out he won't be around the place so long as his brother is there.

As for his coaching, his name never comes up as a serious candidate for any of the head coaching jobs. Which tells a tale all by itself.

No thanks!

I think the wives of the brothers fell out so hence they did.

He certainly didn't make any friends at Peel but then again Peel was and still is a basketcase from the boardroom down. (No offence Mark25Jackson)
