I had a shortlist of Betts,Bower,Hampson,Waite & O'Hailpin, then it struck me no one had taken FEV therefore I have chosen FEV

This is a big year for FEV in 2007 he needs to consolidate on his good 2006 season and become one of the games elite players. I hear a lot of opposition supporters claiming him a 1 season wonder, I hope in the next 3-4 years he puts that to rest.

I believe he has not gone to that elite level because he has played in poor teams, however that is going to change from this year onwards.

Came down between Waite, Thornton and Setanta, but in the end I decided on...

There's been a lot of expectations on Jarrad for a long time, and as of yet has not lived up to them. Hopefully this season he can stay injury-free and repay some of the faith supporters have put in him. Regardless, a big season for Waite, been bandied for a few positions from our fans, across HF or HB, or on the wing, so interesting to see what happens there.

As I am about to retire from cricket, I have a soft spot for guy's in their twilight.
Matt Lappin has given us terrific service over the years & I fear this will be his last season.
His form in Ireland late last year indicated he has plently left in the tank...... we'll enough for at least 1 good year for the BlueBaggers.

Well, it came down to a toss up between this bloke and Special Eddie, but I can't go past:

Setanta O'hAilpin
No longer just a novelty act, this guy proved in the second half of last year, that he can handle AFL football. His confident enthusiastic runs out of defence were a delight for Blues fans last year, and sadly contrasted with some of his teammates attitudes. Ready to take the next step up as he turns 24 this March. Should be separated from Cameron Cloke for the sake of both players.

Early prediction: Will have a blinder of a NAB Cup. Expect more agro and physicality from the big unit, particularly toward the end of the year as his confidence and skills get even better.

Just a thought though...
Would it be a decent idea to have a secondary round after this round for the players who do not get picked up? As these boys will probably be the ones who will not play in 2007, we should get a list of people who think they can get to the bullants games and give us reports.

There are 41 players on senior list IIRC + 3 rookies, which means that 14 players will not be selected. It would be good to be able to keep up to date with some of our less known players.

I personally maybe be able to get to a few bullants games and would be interested in having a rookie buddy along with J.R.

Any other ideas?

Sounds good, it also gives those who feel they may have missed out an opportunity to be involved.
I think we should still give the 2nd round of selections to those who "pass" from the first round but after that perhaps generate a new order for those that wish to be involved.

Quality on-baller who combines polished hand and foot skills with football smarts and determination. 2nd in the club B & F twice and I anticipate he will take Big John home with him this year. Maligned at times by supporters for a lack of accountability and a questional attitude, Stevo will benefit greatly from the support he will receive through the addition of other talented on-ballers this year.
At 27, he is in his prime and I expect him to improve on his 11 games of 25+ possesions in 2006. In 2007, Stevo will stamp himself as one of the elite midfielders in the competition.

Without doubt one of everyone's favourites at Carlton. He had cult status even before he got his first kick in AFL. Exciting player who gained more consitency last year and will be looking to improve on that in 2007. Looking for a role in the midfield but plying his craft in the pocket currently. Kicked some amazing goals last year and none better than his goal of the year at the MCG.

Injury has dictated it such that we have yet to see the best of Fisher.

One of the safest pair of hands at the club his strength is his ability to take one grab contested marks despite his light frame.

With fair pace and deceptive in height he can provide like Waite,a hard match up for opponents.

His one downside is his kicking for goal, wether this has to do with fitness or his actual kicking style can only be answered once he's fully fit and playing regular football.

Though a quality player when fit,2007 is still a pivitol season for Fisher.

If he can stay injury free he needs to show he can consistently play the quality he has shown in brief flashes of over his career thus far and cement a spot in the top 22.
