Looks as if he didn't train today, also said last night on the AA that he had gastro which does take a while to get over, and he looked fine sat night meaning it probably begun to kick in Sunday/Monday.

Chances of him playing? Would be a big bonus if he weren't playing!

Re: Buddy Frainklin

He'll be fine. I reckon he'd still play even if he was spewing after every shot on goal - you don't miss prelims coz of gastro.

Re: Buddy Frainklin

well he won't be as effective, look at pendles first grand final last season

Re: Buddy Frainklin

It's either:

He spent the sunday night in hospital with food poisoning shitting and spewing his guts out, which is what was posted on the hawks forum

Or

He was getting his knee drained of fluid at Vimy house, which was posted on a different collingwood forward.

Regardless he'll play, even if he is somewhat underdone

Re: Buddy Frainklin

Still honestly can't believe Hawks played him in the final against Sydney. Probably didn't need to, and his knee injury heightened the risk of an ACL injury. Medical staff would have gotten the sack if he had injured himself further.

Re: Buddy Frainklin

LOL..how dumb do the Hawks think we are???....why would saying he has Gastro and not a screwed up knee make any difference to us???....Obviously, he didn't pull up too well and they want to keep us guessing. If they said..it's a knee then after last week everyone would expect him to play but saying gastro makes me think his knee may be a little more serious.

Anyway I would like Buddy to play because I want to beat the best Hawks have to offer - NOT.

Now in the unlikely scenario it is gastro then I remember how it hurt Pendles game so either way - we don't have to worry.

Re: Buddy Frainklin

3AW have reported that he has lost 7kg's to date & can't hold his food down due to food poisioning. Pendlebury had the same issue before GF1, according to Maxwell's book, he (Pendlebury) got the first of it on the Wednesday before that game.

Re: Buddy Frainklin

Whatever it is it's pretty bad preparation for him. Doesn't help that it's a Friday night game either. If it's gastro he'll be fine as far as having the bug by the time the game comes around but it all adds up, not being able to eat etc.

Re: Buddy Frainklin

Bad news for Hawthorn. I think we can beat them with our without Buddy so I hope it's nothing too serious.

Re: Buddy Frainklin

Lucky the Hawks wear brown shorts ;)
Haha, reminds me of Scott Russell out at Waverley Park in 1991, he had gastro, played and we had white shorts.

Let's just say it wasn't pretty.:cool::eek:

Re: Buddy Frainklin

Wont where white Eddie will insist we are the 'away team'

Which you are..

Anyway no matter what it is (gastro/knee) he hasn't trained in 2 weeks and will be severely underdone, decreasing the chances of him ripping the game open, which is our only threat.

Re: Buddy Frainklin

Scotty Russell sharted at Waverley ????

Numerous times, also spewed during the breaks

Only stayed on as we had no bench left due to injuries

Gastro, Knee....Knee, Gastro.... matters not as either situation would mean he is not at 100% and if Hawthorn are to beat us they will not only need Buddy at 100% and firing, several others will have to tear us apart as well.

Prefer him to play and have to be subbed out early and place even more pressure on them. Can't take injured players into finals, two weeks running and expect to get away with it.

The gastro could spread to some of our players and if we beat em we could be going through a similar thing on GF week like we did with pendles last year. Hope he gets over it, we can beat em with a fit buddy.

He'll play. Remember the words of the great Walshy: "Good players ALWAYS play in these games."
We'll still win in a canter.

Re: Buddy Frainklin

I don't see him as our real issue, last time we played he was kept to one goal and didn't do much at all, even when moved to the midfield he looked useless.
