Buddy Report - Heath Shaw
Rnd 2 vs WC Eagles

heater07sf4.png

Was simply brilliant last night, Shaw was once again a ball winner from defence, but he was clearly the go to man and set up alot of play, whether through sublime foot skills, which weren't their last week, or through his courage in which rewarded the Pies. Possibly will earn a Brownlow vote he was that good.

He had 21 kicks, and was the main kick-in player from the goalsquare and executed properly every time, and also saw the plan to kick to himself, gain an extra 20-30 metres and pump the ball to a contest, usually making the right decision. His last quarter was brilliant, where he took 2 contested marks from the opposition, deep in the back pocket, and also contributed with two consecutive goal saving tackles. Had 11 rebound 50's as well.

Was also the no.1 ranked player on Subiaco, more than Judd and Kerr!

Rating: 8.5 out of 10 (Tot: 13.5)

Egan: Pretty good for Willy. Did well at all the stuff he is crticised on, hard work and putting his body on the line. Probably might get a call up. Didn't dominate but I don't think he can at this level. At AFL level at least his teammates can tell what he's trying to do. For example he was in the clear, running with Davies on his inside along the wing. He stopped and drew a player on the half forward flank and handballed inwards to Davies who wasn't aware of what he was doing and didn't see the ball.

Guy Richards.

I thought he did OK. 11 possessions and 2 marks. I'm not sure how many hitouts but he, and Seaby for that matter, both seemed to miss the ball alot and it just fell to the ground for a midfielder to clear from there. Not our worst.

As I said last week. Lets at least give him a chance. Another 3 games and then lets assess him.

He hasn't played a lot of footy of the last few years so let him get some match fitness under his belt and see what he can do.

22 hitouts to Seaby's 24.

Er... what can I say. No impressive thread start like last week.

Tarks didn't impress me.

And just remembered I'm meant to be doing Savo's as well.

Cloke was worse than Tarks ;) and he dropped a few easy catches. Not a bad game.

(i will expand on this later)

RHYCE SHAW #22

Just 'doing his bit'. Nothing exciting about his game. As I mentioned previously, he needs to assemble the hard-running game, from 2004, and trust in his ability and speed. His stats were alright, but he's capable of so much more. He tagged Chris Judd in bits and pieces of the game; but to no prevail - should have stayed on him for longer, to be honest, but that's the way it is.

Peformance Tracker

Rnd 2: 15 Kicks, 6 Marks, 4 Clearances, 3 Inside 50s, 2 Clangers, 1 Goal.

Comments: Good enough, but needs to step up.

Rating - 4/10

I thought Rhyce did OK. He was tagging Judd after all.

My man Josh was poor, partly due to the fact that he copped a knock early and seemed to struggle fro mobility.

He needs to get out of the ruck as soon as possible, and it was pleasing to see Richards stand up a bit this week after a poor game first up. Bryan needs to come in next week for Wakelin so that Fraser is able to play forward and give T Cloke the luxury of getting the oppositions third defender rather than their second.

Gents, didn't really get to see the game,

Swanny went ok,

will have proper report on next fridays game when we pump the tigers and Swanny kicks 4

I was away camping and didn’t get to see any of the game. Did Presti play on Lynch all night? If so he only conceded 1 goal which is a far effort – par for the course.

No way Leon Davis was a 6/10 and Heath Shaw was an 8.5

I'd rate Leon at about a bloody 2 or 3. A burst of 3 goals for a game and then never seen again for the rest is no where near good enough for a player thats been around as long as him.
A cheaper mans Brad D1ck, can't wait till this kid steps out and gives Leon on the flick.

What was wrong with me giving Heater 8.5 out of 10...for Collingwood's sake, he was easily our best, was the highest ranked player of the game (and the league in round 2), he was brilliant.

No sorry, you misunderstood. I didn't phrase it right. I was meant to imply that if Leon was a 6, Heath was about a 74.5.

Sorry, I just didnt structure it right, just saying no way that Leon could be a 6 if the best player on the ground was 8.5.
Does that make more sense? I thought your report on Heater was very good and accurate

Ryan Cook.

So so for Willi. Nothing to write home about but tried hard and was far from the worst. One of you boys made the comment that they could see him play the Ryan O'Keefe role. Would love to see him turn out like him. Can agree that he reads the play well and has good hands so can take some marks. I'd like to see him get more aggressive and get some more penetration into his kicking.

Oh okay,

I think Neon was still handy though, as said, 3 goals from him is good, so...fair enough.
